NIIT's Corporate Learning business continues to drive growth. It grew 28% YoY during the quarter, added one new MTS customer and expanded operations with an existing client. NIIT has announced 4 key initiatives in the Skills & Careers business. Each has gained momentum in Q1. TPaaS has 8 mandates from key customers. StackRoute and Training.com are gaining traction with customers and the new career programs have shown encouraging early offtake.

NIIT Limited (NSE: NIITLTD) reported its results for the first quarter ending June 30, 2018. During the quarter, the company recorded a PAT of Rs. 17.9 Cr, up 73% YoY and Net Revenue of Rs. 214.3 Cr, up 2% YoY. EBITDA was recorded at Rs. 19 Cr, up 17% YoY on an Operating Margin of 9%, up 110 bps YoY.

The results were taken on record at the meeting of the Board of Directors held on 26th July 2018.

Corporate Learning Group (CLG) recorded net revenue of Rs. 150.6 Cr up 28% YoY. The revenue visibility for CLG stood at $ 224 Mn, up 17% YoY.

During the quarter NIIT commenced execution of a five-year long-term Learning and Development agreement with Pitney Bowes (NYSE:PBI), a global technology company providing commerce solutions that power billions of transactions. Under this significant agreement, NIIT will take over the majority of Learning and Development (L&D) activities at Pitney Bowes with the exception of leadership and managerial development.

This quarter NIIT was selected for the Top 20 Training Outsourcing Companies List for the eleventh consecutive year by TrainingIndustry.com. Training Industry continuously reviews companies that provide training business process outsourcing (BPO) services and conducts an annual assessment to determine suppliers' experience and capabilities.

Skills & Careers Group (SNC) recorded net revenue of Rs. 54.8 Cr during Q1.

During the quarter unveiled a series of aspirational Career Programs guided by the choices of the industry to address the changing workforce needs that digital transformation has brought forth. On offer are aspirational programs in the fast-evolving digital marketing & branding, data analytics & predictive modelling, financial services & futuristic IT streams. These programs have been designed to help undergraduates and graduates build a challenging career in the digital economy. NIIT plans to train 60,000 youth over the next 2 years in these new-age career programs.

NIIT also introduced Talent Pipeline as a Service (TPaaS) to develop Just-in-Time job ready talent for global organizations. TPaaS, is first-of-its-kind initiative from NIIT to ensure reliable availability of specifically skilled talent to global organizations to match the pace of expansion in today's fast changing, uncertain business environment. Through this initiative NIIT will train around 1,00,000 youth in 3 years for aspirational career opportunities in leading corporates in the IT & BFSI sectors.

MindChampion Learning Systems Limited (MLSL) registered net revenue of Rs. 8.8 Cr during the quarter and added 123 school contracts.

NIIT Limited unveiled a series of aspirational Career Programs guided by the choices of the industry to address the changing workforce needs that digital transformation has brought forth. On offer are aspirational programs in the fast-evolving digital marketing, data analytics, financial services & futuristic IT streams. These programs have been designed to help undergraduates and graduates build a challenging career in the digital economy. NIIT plans to train 60,000 youth over the next 2 years in these new-age career programs.

A recent study conducted by NIIT in association with IPSOS (a global market research and a consulting firm) highlights that youth today aspire for a lavish life style and want to be seen as global citizens. Youth, particularly in the Commerce and Arts segments are excited about prospects in Digital Marketing and Banking & Financial Services. The Science and IT students however continue to aspire for the IT industry and new age Data Analytics roles. With the digital economy set to create 600 million new jobs globally by 2030 (according to World Bank) there are substantial opportunities across sectors.

To this end, NIIT has designed aspirational career programs matching the future-ready talent requirements of the industry with ambitions of the generation next. These programs include, Advanced Program in Digital Marketing and Branding, Advanced Program in Data Analytics and Predictive Modelling, Advanced Program in Full Stack Software Engineering, Advanced Program in Banking and Finance and Advanced Program in Accounting & Business Analytics. Each of these programs is backed by placement assistance.

While the options are plenty, information about these future-ready careers and the roles and path they entail are often not available. Hence, the youth seem to be 'drifters' not knowing what stream to choose and strongly feel the need for guidance and direction. Understanding this need NIIT, is focused towards being 'Inspiring Mentor' to these students. Further, a unique Career Navigator tool has been designed that will explore an individual's career aspirations and advise them on the best career path for their future. Any student aspiring to opt for aspirational career programs at NIIT will have to undergo the Career Navigator process.

Recognising the need for specialised modules that are globally recognized, these programs come equipped with certifications from leading institutions like IIM Bangalore, Harvard University, The University of Edinburgh (delivered through NIIT's alliance with edX), amongst others. The programs are offered through an instructor-led methodology at NIIT centres across the country. Designed to provide a strong foundation and an intensive learning experience, students will benefit from the perfect combination of training hours, expert faculty and comprehensive learning material. NIIT also offers Guided Practice providing every learner an opportunity to polish his learning at a pace that is comfortable for him. These programs include frequent lectures by industry experts and practitioners providing both context and real-world examples to further advance learning. Under this landmark agreement, NIIT will take over the majority of Learning and Development (L&D) activities at Pitney Bowes with the exception of leadership and managerial development. Per the agreement, NIIT will deliver a comprehensive L&D portfolio of managed training services for Pitney Bowes including learning consulting, demand management, design and development, learning delivery, administration, technology support, and vendor management. The agreement entails that NIIT will not only run day-to-day L&D operations but will also focus on learning strategy with the end goal of transformative improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of the L&D function.

- Aims to upgrade the skills of students by offering unique courses for their personal development

NIIT Limited launched a set of summer programs for school kids and college students based on their interest and for their personal development. The short-term summer programs have been designed to give an extra edge to the students in today's competitive environment by upgrading and enhancing the skills of students.

On offer are: -

  • Basic Literacy Programs – involves working with Microsoft office Productivity Tools, to improve Personal and Professional productivity and learn to work in Digital lifestyle
  • Fundamental IT Programs –
  • Get started to the world of Programming by learning programming in C and C++.
  • Learn to create Web Pages using HTML5 Programming
  • o Manage data using Databases with Microsoft SQL Communication and Personal Development Programs – involves proficiency in English communication for workplace and communication with an impact

The duration of each program varies from course to course. Students can visit the nearest NIIT centre to apply for the programs.
