NIIT Limited, a global leader in skills and talent development, reported its results for the second quarter ending September 30, 2015. In this quarter, the company recorded a Net Revenue at Rs. 272.5 Cr, up 5% YoY and a PAT of Rs. 20.8 Cr up 102% YoY. The Company recorded EBITDA at Rs. 25.2 Cr up 39% YoY, on an Operating Margin of 9%, up 230 bps YoY.

The results were taken on record at the meeting of the Board of Directors here today.

"We look forward to maintaining and speeding up the pace of improvement of revenue growth, profitability and technology transformation, even as we further strengthen the leadership team", added Mr. Patwardhan.

NIIT.tv and StackRoute are strong first steps by NIIT for the Renewal phase of the three stage Business transformation exercise for its Skills and Careers Business. This began with the 'Restructuring phase' in October 2014, and was quickly followed by the 'Re-energising phase' that commenced in April 2015. Keeping up the momentum in parallel, NIIT initiated the 'Renewal phase' from July 2015 which will evolve over next 3 years.

NIIT.tv is a digital learning initiative that brings skilling from NIIT classrooms to every digitally connected Indian, for free, at any time and place of their choice. A disruptive innovation by NIIT for the education space, NIIT.tv will deliver for the very first time, skill-based live courses as well as on-demand courses to the masses, through the digital medium. StackRouteTM is a pioneering initiative to create Full-stack programmers for the start-up industry. It aims to create multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary programmers who can become key members of high-performance teams in top notch product engineering companies, start-ups, and IT firms. These 'Super Programmers' will also be well equipped to create their own technology start-ups.

During the quarter, Corporate Learning Group (CLG) recorded net revenues of Rs. 144.8 Cr, up 16% YoY. Overall Revenue visibility of CLG was recorded at USD 191.1 Mn, up 16% YoY. Managed Training Services (MTS) continued to grow, by contributing 91% to the total CLG revenue.

During the quarter, NIIT added one MTS client, Citi a Fortune 50 global bank and 7 more clients, which have the potential to become MTS accounts. These include, a Fortune 500 global healthcare services company; a Global 500 banking company with significant operations in Asia Pacific and Europe; a Global 500 financial services company headquartered in Switzerland; a Fortune 500 major insurance company headquartered in USA; a Fortune 500 manufacturing company headquartered in USA; a cutting-edge high-growth Silicon Valley Technology company; and a leading Platform-as-a-Service provider.

Skills and Careers Group (SNC) recorded a net revenue of Rs. 104.5 Cr during Q2, up 1% YoY with an Operating Margin at 7% up 359 bps YoY. Backed by accelerated Business Transformation, SNC delivered on the back to growth and profitability promise, at the end of Q2.

During the quarter, NIIT unveiled Flagship Training Centre at Connaught Place, New Delhi. The high-tech, digital and completely paperless NIIT CP Centre will offer advanced training programs in executive management, banking, digital marketing, big data, new-age IT and other multiple sectors. These programs will be backed by revolutionary Cloud Technology to ensure anytime anywhere accessibility.

Further strengthening its EduTech credentials, NIIT rolled out the revolutionary Cloud CampusTM in China. As part of this rollout in China, NIIT has extended the break-through Cloud Campus platform to support learners in Mandarin.

School Learning Group (SLG) registered net revenue of Rs 23.2 Cr during the quarter, maintaining an Operating Margin of 6% up 379 bps YoY.

During the quarter, NIIT unveiled "English Plus Language Lab" - a world class school learning solution by NIIT Nguru. Nguru English Plus Language Lab is a platform where comprehensive and interactive digital content catering to listening and speaking skills, is put to use in a stimulating lab environment.

Commits to train 10 Million young Indians across 16 industry sectors in 5 years Announces the pilot phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in North East, J&K and Jharkhand

NIIT Limited, a global leader in skills and talent development, welcomed the Skill India Campaign launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today. The Prime Minister also formally launched the "National Skill Development Mission", unveiled the new "National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015", and rolled out on all-India basis the Ministry's flagship scheme, "Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana – PMKVY," – the pilot phase of which has already begun.

Towards making Skill India a success, NIIT today committed to train 10 Million young Indians across 16 sectors over the next 5 years. The aim is to skill, re-skill and up-skill Indian youth with employable skill sets across multiple sectors.

Further, NIIT Yuva Jyoti Limited– a joint venture of NIIT and NSDC, has enrolled 1550 students under the pilot phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), across three sectors – Telecom, Retail & IT in North East, Jammu &Kashmir and Jharkhand. PMKVY Scheme is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Today the successfully trained students were also handed over the 'Skill Certificates' by Mr. Shivan Bhargava, Group President, Skills & Careers Group, NIIT Ltd. at a ceremony organized at the NIIT corporate office in Gurgaon.

"Over the last 34 years NIIT has contributed tremendously to the IT sector by training 35 million people in IT. With NIIT's strong heritage and focus on quality it is our responsibility to extend that experience and expertise to service the need of India in all the other sectors. All our NIIT centres are now multi-skilling centres offering job-specific training across verticals. Also, we will leverage the power of technology through Synchronous Learning Technology (SLT) and cloud campus platforms to scale rapidly without compromising on quality. Going forward our focus will be on skilling, re-skilling and up-skilling in sectors that are facing shortage of trained manpower."

Earlier in 2011, NIIT entered into a significant public-private partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), to enhance skills and employability for youth across India. NIIT Yuva Jyoti Limited - joint venture of NIIT and NSDC (a Public Private Partnership under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, with 49% equity held by the Government of India), aims to provide skills training through over 1500 + centres across India.

NIIT Yuva Jyoti Limited (NYJ) will help youth chart ambitious careers by opting for programs that best suit their aptitude. NYJ centres imparts skills training across 9 service sectors – Retail, IT/ITeS, BFSI, Education & Training Services, Media & Entertainment, Healthcare, Telecom, Hospitality and the Informal sector. The courses will enhance employability skills of students by offering occupational, communication, and professional and life skills to make them industry ready. Through this partnership Rotary International District 3011 will sponsor over 5000 youth in the next one year for job-oriented courses of NIIT Yuva Jyoti Ltd (NYJ) across service industry segments like Retail, Hospitality, IT-ITeS etc. The MoU was signed by Rtn. 25 glorious years of developing talent in the city for global career opportunities

NIIT Limited, a global leader in skills and talent development, celebrated 25th anniversary of the NIIT Nagpur Centre. Over the last 25 years NIIT Nagpur has trained and placed thousands of youth from the city in leading corporates like Infosys, Capgemini, Wipro, Astral, ICICI Bank to name a few. A function organized to commemorate the occasion was graced by Mr. Rajendra Singh Pawar, Chairman, NIIT Group & Founder NIIT University, as the Chief Guest. Also present were Shivan Bhargava, Group President, Skills and Careers Group, NIIT Ltd and Ms Rina Sinha, NIIT Nagpur.

NIIT Nagpur has placed more than 10000 students who pursued GNIIT in corporates like Infosys, Capgemini, Wipro, Astral, Persistent Systems, Infocepts, e Caliber, Global Logic, Dinshaws, Dominos, Western Coalfields Ltd. (WCL), MOIL Ltd., Easypack, Light house Systems etc. Over 800 IFBI students have been placed in leading banks like ICICI, Axis, Lakshmi Vilas, ING Vysya, IndusInd etc. Corporate training programs have been imparted to NEERI, NECO, Sunflag Industries, Power Grid Corporation, CBWE, WCL and MOIL.

Special training programs have also been organized for Air Force Wives Welfare Association and South East Central Railways Wives Welfare Organisation. 5000 students have been trained for Ministry of Rural Development (MORD) and 300 for Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE).

Under the ICT Project for government school NIIT Nagpur created infrastructure and serviced 185 zilla parishad and 405 schools in Phase 2 of the Maharashtra State Government.

NIIT Nagpur has recently entered into a tie-up with Maharashtra Centre for Entrepreneur Development (MCED) to train budding entrepreneurs in Nagpur and parts of Vidarbha on Skill development programs in Data Entry, Accounting etc.

NIIT Nagpur has also conducted free training for children and widows of Vidarbha Farmers' suicide families in Yawatmal and Wardha along with Vandana Foundation and local NGOs.

Aims to create versatile technology specialists for the new age start-up industry and the changing manpower needs of the IT sector

NIIT Limited, a global leader in skills and talent development, has unveiled a first-of-its-kind programme to address the versatile talent requirements of the fast growing start-up sector - StackRouteTM, an NIIT initiative to produce the world's best full stack programmers. StackRouteTM aims to create multi-skilled, and multi-disciplinary programmers who can become key members of high-performance teams in top notch product engineering companies, start-ups, and IT firms. These 'Super Programmers' will also be well equipped to create their own technology start-ups.

Over the recent past, the start-up space in India has witnessed phenomenal growth and has drawn support from the government and industry for their efforts towards ushering innovation and job creation. Addressing the nation on the 69th Independence day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a new campaign "Start-up India, Stand up India" which would promote bank financing for start-ups and offer incentives to boost entrepreneurship and job creation. This was followed by announcement of Rs. 2000 Cr fund for start-ups. Earlier this year apex body for the IT industry NASSCOM announced an ambitious initiative called 10,000 Start-ups, to scale up the start-up ecosystem in India.

This revolution in the start-up space has led to massive talent crunch. According to a Manpower report 58 per cent of Indian employers are finding it difficult to fill positions and there is a significant talent shortage of talent in the IT and accounting space. The demand for versatile roles in IT is expected go up further, says Manpower. Also close to 67 per cent Indian start-ups reported difficulty in filling job vacancies versus a global average of 34 per cent.

As an organization, NIIT has played a pioneering role in making the right skill-sets available for the industry, over the last 34 years. To this effect, in the past couple of years specific niche offerings focused on Social, Mobile, Cloud and Analytics domains have been rolled out.

The kind of software engineers needed by the start-up sector, are significantly different from what large IT services firms needed in the past for their huge software factories. Engineers need to be versatile and have full stack programming skills and NIIT has taken a step forward to provide the same. The launch of StackRouteTM is a key ingredient of the business transformation program at NIIT that is set to enter the 'next frontier' of growth by offering quality Career Skills Training to offer job-ready talent to the Indian industry across multiple industry sectors.

StackRouteTM is a truly high end, specialised programme offering, that will take a very select group of students and turn them into high performance full stack programmers that the industry needs urgently. The product has been developed in intense consultation with the industry, start-ups, product engineering companies and incubators, and is strongly endorsed by all the key industry stakeholders.

The pilot program is being launched in Bangalore in Koramangala, which has already become India's most concentrated start-up hub. The initial pilot focuses on the JavaScript and NoSQL stack, and will be followed by a series of further specialised full stack programs focused on data sciences & analytics; IT security; etc. These full-stack programs over the near future, will be made available to key product engineering and start-up hubs in India, hence becoming a significant part of NIIT's IT product portfolio.

"At the same time, today's youth are looking for challenging roles that will enable them to work closely with the decision makers. There is also a growing hunger for setting up enterprises and lot of innovation is happening in the technology space. StackRouteTM - first of its kind initiative to create full stack programmers has been designed to match these aspirations," added Mr. Patwardhan.

StackRouteTM, an NIIT initiative has been designed with the sole intent of teaching people to be top-class programmers. On offer are intensive boot camp styled courses with a model of apprenticeship where practitioners lead novices towards expertise. StackRouteTM is based on an extremely experiential learning model. Over a 12-week intensive boot camp, the students are immersed in a work environment that is exactly like that of a product company. They are mentored by a team of senior architects and tech leads drawn from the industry. By the end of the program, students produce real products over this time frame, which are then released as Open Source contributions or as part of App Stores and become primary demonstrators of our their competencies. Innovative pedagogical methodologies and the use of intensive learning analytics are other unique features of this first-of-its-kind intensive programs in India.

To provide instructor-led class room training to over 5000 employees of AAI

The training program aims to make the employees computer literate and internet savvy. The formal agreement between NIIT and AAI was signed by Mr. Shivan Bhargava, Group President-Skills & Careers Group, NIIT Ltd. and Mr. Rajiv Goel, Executive Director (Training) AAI, in the presence of Mr. Anuj Aggarwal, Member (HR), AAI.

Under this agreement, NIIT will impart training to the employees of AAI in MS-Office and Internet & System introduction. NIIT will provide both theory and hands on practical sessions to the students. The first batch will comprise 1500 employees from AAI.

Mr. Rajiv Goel, Executive Director (Training) AAI, stated that, the training will be imparted to the group A, B & C category of employees to make them computer savvy to have better efficiency / productivity at workplace.

Mr. Anuj Aggarwal, Member (HR), AAI, emphasized on the need for up gradation of computer skills of the AAI employees for successful implementation of e-Governance initiatives and a beginning towards digital literacy as part of Digital India campaign. He further stated that the focus of AAI management is to provide competency based training to its employees to ensure quality services to its stakeholders.

The training program will be instructor-led, delivered in English across various AAI centres in the country. The session for each batch will be for a span of 5 days for 8 hours per day. The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) Advantage Program is an initiative by NIIT to support Pre-Service/In-Service teachers to prepare for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test and to help them ace the exam.

The CTET program has been launched under aegis of NIIT Litmus, an initiative by NIIT for helping young aspirants prepare for competitive exams leading to enhanced employability. Qualifying CTET is a compulsory and essential requirement for securing a teaching job in Government Schools. Leading private schools also ask for CTET qualification for recruitment and for determining pay scale. CTET is conducted by CBSE, twice a year in accordance with the guidelines framed by NCTE as per provisions of the RTE act. The rationale of including the Teacher Eligibility Test as a minimum qualification for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher is to bring national standards and benchmark teacher quality in the recruitment process, improve performance standards of teachers and quality of teaching.

The CTET Advantage program offered by NIIT has been designed to provide complete revision and clarification of concepts related to pedagogy and child development. Minister for Jobs, Ireland, Richard Bruton TD announced that NIIT Limited, a global leader in skills and talent development is to establish a European Delivery Centre in Dublin, creating 110 jobs over five years.

The development is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA (Industrial Development Agency) Ireland.

On Wednesday, September 23, 2015, the Irish Prime Minister, Enda Kenny said in a joint press statement with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, "I also welcome the NIIT Company here to Ireland with a 110 jobs, with the IDA working strongly in terms of foreign direct investments here."

The publicly listed company, which was established in 1981 and is headquartered in Gurgaon, India, employs about 3,000 people in over 40 countries with primary locations in India, the United States, Europe and China. The focus of this announcement is NIIT's Corporate Learning Group (CLG) which delivers comprehensive managed training services including Custom Curriculum Design and Content Development, Learning Administration, Learning Delivery, Strategic Sourcing, Learning Technology, and Advisory Services.

Ireland was chosen as the location for the new European Delivery Centre due to the availability of suitable creative and technical talent and multilingual skills, the cluster of existing learning technology companies and, open business environment.

The new roles will include high-end engineers, creative writers, and digital media professionals. Other roles will be for trainers, multilingual customer service support, and project managers. Applicants can email careers.ireland@niit.com for further information on these positions.

Making the announcement today, Minister Bruton, who has met senior NIIT executives in New Delhi on two recent trade missions said, "A key part of our Action Plan for Jobs is achieving greater diversity in our multinational investment. As part of that, we have doubled the number of trade missions, and increased the number of IDA staff in key foreign growth markets. I have been to India on three major trade missions since taking office and I have seen first-hand the amazing work being done by our Agencies in that market and the massive potential for attracting investments and jobs to Ireland. I am well aware from our meetings in New Delhi that NIIT is a world-leading company in its sector, and today's announcement that it is establishing its first operation in Ireland and creating 110 jobs is a huge boost. I wish NIIT every success with this great project."

Welcoming the announcement, IDA's CEO Martin Shanahan said, "The Indian market is an important region in IDA's Growth Markets and NIIT is a valuable addition to the growing base of technology companies establishing in Ireland. NIIT.tv is an internet TV portal that can be accessed on a computer, tablet or smartphone anytime, anywhere. In the initial phase, over 20 skill-based training programs in IT, Banking and Finance, Retail and Management will be made available through this platform. NIIT will keep updating the content and launch new courses as per industry requirements. These live courses will be streamed through multiple channels from dedicated state-of-the-art studios across India, effectively offering a program calendar equivalent to a multi-channel TV network. In addition all the courses would also be available on-demand at any time. All courses would be delivered through videos plus additional online services in the form of digital courseware, collaboration, assessment, etc. To begin with courses will be offered in English and Hindi, and progressively in other languages. The Beta version of NIIT.tv was launched today, inviting suggestions from users, to maximize learning outcomes & impact.

The launch of this initiative is a strong step by NIIT for the Renewal phase of its three stage Business Transformation exercise for the Skills and Careers Business. NIIT announced StackRouteTM, first of its kind initiative to create full stack programmers, in August this year. Owing to high demand from both industry and individuals, admission to the first batch of the program has already been fully subscribed. NIIT will announce more batches for interested organizations and individuals shortly. Further select meritorious students are also being awarded special scholarships.

StackRouteTM is a pioneering initiative from NIIT that aims to create multi-skilled, and multi-disciplinary programmers who can become key members of high-performance teams in top notch product engineering companies, startups, and IT firms. These 'Full- Stack Programmers' will also be well equipped to create their own technology start-ups

StackRouteTM is a truly high end, specialised program offering, that takes a group of talented programmers screened through a rigorous selection process and turns them into high performance full stack programmers that the industry needs urgently. The product has been developed in intense consultation with the industry, start-ups, product engineering companies and incubators, and is strongly endorsed by all the key industry stakeholders. The pilot program commences in Koramangala, Bangalore which has already become India's most concentrated startup hub.

Currently, the StackRouteTM program focuses on the MEAN Stack (MongoDB, Express, AngularJS and Node.js), which is an open-source software stack for building scalable web sites and web apps. This will be followed by a series of further specialised full stack programs focused on Data Sciences & Analytics; IT Security and Cloud Infrastructure management, etc. NIIT is also working on expansion plans so that in the near future these full-stack programmers are available to key product engineering and startup hubs in major metro cities in India.

The kind of software engineers needed by the startup sector and IT companies today, are significantly different from what large IT services firms needed in the past for their huge software factories. Engineers need to be versatile and have full stack programming skills and NIIT has taken a step forward to provide the same.

About The StackRoute Program

The StackRoute program is based on an extremely hands-on, experiential learning model. Over a 12-week intensive boot camp, the students are immersed in a work environment that is exactly like that of a product company. They are mentored by a team of senior architects and tech leads drawn from the industry. By the end of the program, students produce real products over this time frame, which are then released as Open Source contributions or as part of App Stores and become primary demonstrators of our their competencies. Innovative pedagogical methodologies and the use of intensive learning analytics are other unique features of this first-of-its-kind intensive program in India.
