For the quarter ending September 30, 2010, NIIT Limited recorded global system-wide revenue of Rs 574.4 Cr, an increase of 3% YoY with net revenue of Rs 345.8 Cr. The Company recorded PAT of Rs 28.5 Cr up 9% YoY. EBITDA margin grew by 161 bps YoY at 15%. The global system wide revenue grew by 15% YoY on a like-to-like basis and net revenue by 14% YoY on a like-to-like basis after normalization of one time pass through revenue last year.

The results were taken on record at the meeting of the Board of Directors of NIIT Limited here today.

During the quarter, NIIT strengthened its offerings in the IT space with the launch of GNIIT for Engineers, an industry-endorsed program designed to enhance employability of engineering graduates. The company also entered into an alliance with Tally, to create skilled workforce for Small and Medium Businesses.

Individual Learning Solutions recorded 17% YoY growth in net revenue on the back of 8% growth in GNIIT series enrolments, 177% growth in the job-oriented diploma programs and 172% growth in Finance & Management training enrolments.

In international markets, NIIT further strengthened its positioning in global talent development. China operations recorded a robust growth of 44%. The company also set up new operations in Brunei and organized its 11th successful scholarship drive in Nigeria.

Finance & Management Training (FMT) recorded a 139% YoY growth in revenue. NIIT Imperia entered into a strategic alliance with Google to offer cutting-edge training program in online advertising, certified by Google.

Corporate Learning Solutions (CLS) recorded a net revenue of Rs 148.7 Cr, up 11% YoY with a volume growth of 15% YoY. Order intake for CLS was at USD 31 Mn for the quarter as a result of significant customer wins in Managed Training Services. The closing order book stood at USD 92 Mn, up 11% YoY.

During the quarter, NIIT reaffirmed its leadership position in the IT training space by winning the Dataquest Top IT Training Company Award 2010, for the 18th consecutive year. NIIT also received the prestigious Microsoft Partner Summit Award for Best Learning Solutions, Highest Revenue Partner for the year 2009-10 and the Franchisor of the year Award 2010 by Franchise Plus Magazine, for developing and demonstrating the best business model in the field of Information Technology Education.

NIIT along with its brand ambassador, Grand Master Viswanathan Anand launched the ‘Certificate Program in Chess as Mind Booster’ in partnership with IGNOU, to enable development of young minds through Chess. This is the first such program to be made available in this space.

NIIT and Tally Announce Strategic Global Alliance

Aim to Create Skilled Workforce for Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) on Next Generation Business Management Solutions

NIIT and Tally Solutions (P) Ltd., leading Business Management Software Product Company, entered into a global alliance to develop comprehensive business software professionals with particular expertise in Tally.ERP 9 product. This global Alliance will cover besides India, international geographies such as the Middle East, Africa, China & Asia- Pacific in a progressive manner, thus making available talent to power the growth of Small & Medium Business (SMB) enterprises, in these geographies.

NIIT & IGNOU Launch Certificate Program in Chess as Mind Booster

First of its kind Joint Certification Program to Enable Development of Young Minds through Chess

NIIT and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), world’s largest Open University, have come together to launch ‘Certificate Program in Chess as Mind Booster’, to enable development of young minds through Chess. The program was unveiled by World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand.

The program aims to encourage young students to play Chess which would enable young minds to develop, and subsequently help them to think logically and improve their life skills. Also, under the guidance of Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, IGNOU and NIIT will work towards extending the - NIIT MindChampions Academy across the country.

The program will help the students to learn the game, practice, solve puzzles, analyze great moves, enrich their knowledge on Chess history and expose them to games of eminent players. Students will get an opportunity to play with Anand and participate in the annual ChessMaster.

After the successful completion of the program students will be felicitated with a joint Certification by NIIT and IGNOU. This will enable the students to become members of the NIIT MindChampions Academy and contribute to the Chess movement in India.

 

NIIT Launches GNIIT for Engineers

Industry-endorsed program designed to enhance employability of engineering graduates

NIIT launched the ‘industry endorsed’ multiple track GNIIT for Engineers in Kolkata, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad.

GNIIT for Engineers is aimed at enhancing employability of engineering graduates by bridging the skill gap. According to NASSCOM estimates, only 25% of the engineering graduates applying for positions in the IT & ITeS sectors in India, are considered employable by the industry. It has therefore become a necessity to equip the graduating engineers with employable skill sets, for meeting the industry requirements.

The curriculum of GNIIT for Engineers has been specially designed and customized with inputs from the IT industry, thus imparting GNIIT-Engineers with specialised skills essential to build a successful IT career. Mapped to current industry requirements, the program offers Global Technology Certification mapped to curriculum to ensure best career opportunities worldwide for every GNIIT-Engineer, along with firsthand experience of working on the latest technology developments.

The students will also undergo a six-month Industry internship which will enable them to understand the industry expectations and become day-one job ready when they graduate.

NIIT launches Google certified ‘Advanced Online Advertising’ program

Special course for aspiring online advertising & marketing professionals

NIIT announced the launch of ‘Advanced Online Advertising’ program for advertising and marketing professional in association with Google India. As part of this initiative, NIIT will offer a specially designed training program in online advertising which will be certified by Google.

The training program in online advertising has been designed and customized to equip the Indian advertising and marketing professional with better understanding of Google’s global advertising program Google ‘AdWords’. The program content and module outline has been designed by experts from Google and will cover all aspects of search engine marketing, measuring and optimising online campaigns. As a unique feature, the professionals will be pre-allotted advertising budget to formulate live campaigns, so that they have a rich hands- on experience even while they are undergoing training.

The program will be delivered by NIIT Imperia using Synchronous Learning Technology. The four months program, certified by Google, will be spread across 13 weeks for smooth learning and better retention of concepts. The program offered by NIIT and Google will equip marketers with the capability to use the right tools to maximise their brand’s visibility and assess the effectiveness of their online campaigns.

NIIT Nagpur Celebrates 20 Years of Empowering Students

NIIT Organises 11th IT Scholarship in Nigeria

Announces 100% Scholarship for 50 Meritorious Students to Commemorate 50th Year of Nigeria’s Independence

NIIT successfully conducted the 11th NIIT Nigeria IT Scholarship 2010 to reward meritorious students enrolling for computer programs at NIIT. The Scholarships assist a large number of Nigerian youth to take up IT, and significantly increase the number of certified professionals in Nigeria.

NIIT conducts the IT Scholarship exam every year to help identify meritorious students to join the fast emerging IT industry in Nigeria and be a part of the global skilled IT Talent pool. NIIT Scholarships have become one of the most awaited events in the annual events calendar of the country. A record 200,000 students had enrolled for the largest IT Scholarship Test of the decade in 2009.

This year, as Nigeria celebrates its 50th year of Independence NIIT will offer 100% scholarship to 50 meritorious students. Also, for the first time, NIIT Scholarship 2010 will also be open for students who could not get through the Joint Admission Matriculation Examination (JAMB) so that they can register for the National Innovation Diploma [NID], approved by the Federal Ministry of Education to meet the increasing demand for technical manpower by various sectors of the economy.

This year NIIT has strengthened its product portfolio by adding new programmes in all four domains of IT namely; Software Development, Networking, Database and Multimedia Applications covering programs from entry level to the higher end of technology. NIIT to Equip Hon’ble MLAs of Chhattisgarh with IT Skills

Engages with Chhattisgarh Infotech and Biotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) to conduct training

workshop for MLAs

NIIT entered into a partnership with CHiPS (Chhattisgarh Infotech and Biotech Promotion Society) to conduct a 2 day computer training programme for Hon’ble MLAs of Chhattisgarh Assembly. The training programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh.

The objective of the training programme was to equip Hon’ble MLAs of Chhattisgarh Assembly with basic computer knowledge which help them manage their day to day official work. The training program will facilitate them to stay updated with contemporary IT knowledge.

Speaking on the launch of the training Program, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr. Raman Singh remarked, “I am confident that the training conducted by NIIT for our MLAs will help them embrace this tool, for taking Chhattisgarh into a new era of development.”

NIIT Limited unveiled the first ever comprehensive Pan-India study on the impact of Chess programmes on children. The key findings of the report titled- ‘Developing MindChampions through Chess’, was launched by World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand, over an expert panel discussion on the role that Chess can play in developing young minds at school.

Eminent panelists who highlighted the impact of Chess on academics and life skills comprised: NIIT MindChampion & World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand; Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman, NIIT; Dr Marmar Mukhopadhaya, Advisor, Government of India; Dr G Ravindra, Director, NCERT; Dr B L Handoo, Cognitive Learning Specialist, IGNOU; Prof Srivatsan, Pro Vice Chancellor, IGNOU; Mamta Agarwal, Director Education, NDMC; Charudatta Yadav, Chairman, Braille Chess Association; Major General Manmohan Singh, Director, Army Welfare Education society.

The report - ‘Developing MindChampions through Chess’, establishes a strong correlation between the game of chess and academic excellence. It is proved conclusively that introducing Chess to the classroom environment through MCA Clubs have positively influenced the students by enabling them to experience holistic learning during the school hours.

The MCA Clubs have given children an opportunity to redefine the general sense of experiencing in education. A great sense of relationship within the group has been witnessed. 92% students who play chess regularly have been found to be more logical and focused in their approach to any problem.

Students Gift Computer Skills to Teachers Using NIIT’s iTEACH

A Teacher’s Day initiative by NIIT

NIIT Limited organised a unique one day computer training programs for teachers in various states. The training program was conducted on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, wherein students taught teachers basic computer skills.

The training programme, aimed at building Computer Literacy, equipped teachers with basic computer knowledge. The training program was offered by NIIT’s School Learning Solutions through iTEACH. Under this training programme, young students demonstrated to their teachers on how to use latest technology tools, producing a report or presentation using technology tools, forming database, File Management & Windows Explorer Skills and Downloading Software from the Web.
