NIIT Limited reported a Net Revenue of Rs. 232.7 Cr with a PAT of Rs 0.5 Cr for the third quarter ending December 31, 2012.

Career Building Solutions (CBS) recorded net revenue of Rs. 103.4 Cr during the quarter. Despite a challenged quarter, NIIT graduate’s job-readiness and acceptance by the industry continued to be favourable with 8,879 students getting placed during Q3. At the same time, the short-term technology courses registered a growth of 9%.

Into its fourth decade of leadership in Global Talent Development, NIIT extended its portfolio to provide training for Commerce graduates and Digital Marketing professionals during the quarter. NIIT rolled out the Diploma in Applied Financial Management for B.Com students and entered into a tie-up with Digital Marketing Institute (Ireland) to create a globally competitive resource pool for the fast evolving digital marketing industry in India.

NIIT strengthened its IT training portfolio during the quarter, by entering into a MoU with NASSCOM to enhance skill development of graduates through its in-campus training initiative, across colleges in the country.

NIIT reinforced its talent development initiatives in the International arena, by signing MoU with Vietnam’s 3rd largest, University of Da-Nang for its in-campus training initiative, NIIT-Inside.

During the quarter NIIT Imperia launched two new programs- Advanced Program in Strategy for Leaders and Advanced Program in Human Resource Management from IIM, Lucknow.

NIIT completed the intensive training programs for the second batch of Tax Return Preparers for Department of Income Tax in which 3,685 candidates got certified during this quarter.

Corporate Learning Solutions (CLS) recorded net revenues of Rs. 79.2 Cr., up 14% YoY on a continuing business basis and added 3 new global customers during the quarter.

School Learning Solutions registered net revenue of Rs. 49.8 Cr. during the quarter, up 35% YoY. 137 new schools with Nguru solutions were added in Q3 and Non Government schools revenue grew by 13% YoY.

NIIT MindChampions Academy (MCA) - a joint initiative by NIIT and World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand to initiate young minds into the World of Chess in schools - crossed the milestone of impacting over 1.65 million children across 16,500 schools since inception, during the quarter.

NIIT’s vocational skills training initiative - NIIT Yuva Jyoti, established in partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) added new centres this quarter, taking the total number of centres to 26 with over 3,500 enrolments since commencement.

Awards and acknowledgements during Q3:

  1. Received the Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning 2012 Silver Award in the Best in Competencies and Skill Development category jointly with Shell for Shell Standard Primavera Education.
  2. Awarded the silver in Chief Learning Officer Learning in Practice 2012 awards for the Excellence in E-Learning category for MetLife Virtual Induction Program.

NIIT’s training expertise together with NASSCOM’s industry insights will empower college students across India.


- Vision to train over 1 lakh students over three years

NIIT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NASSCOM Sector Skills Council (SSC), for three years, to offer enhanced training programs to students through its training campuses all across the country. The strategic alliance will offer first-of-its-kind training programs that have been designed, developed and endorsed by the industry through two initiatives- FSIT (Foundation Skills in IT) - for engineering graduates and Global Business Foundation Skills (GBFS) - for graduates of all streams.

While FSIT aims to develop foundation skills in IT, GBFS has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the BPO/KPO and the LPO industry. NIIT will leverage its on-campus delivery model - NIIT Careers@Campus, designed to enhance employability skill sets of engineering graduates in particular and the overall employability of all graduates in general.

The training program has been designed by IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council NASSCOM and the achievement levels are certified through the NAC and NAC-Tech assessments. The collaboration between NASSCOM’s IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council (SSC) and NIIT aims to train over 1 lakh students over three years, starting with 30,000 students in the first year.

NIIT entered into a strategic alliance with Digital Marketing Institute (DMI), Ireland, the global leaders in training professionals in digital marketing, to offer digital marketing education and professional certification in India. To this end “Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing”– a flagship program that offers comprehensive professional certification and is recognized globally by the industry, has been introduced for the first time in India.

Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing is validated by the Industry Advisory Council which consists of global leaders in IT, Media, Finance and Communications, such as Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Intel, Microsoft, BT, Publicis, and many practitioners from noted digital advertising agencies.

The program has been developed in cooperation with many of the leading digital companies in the world and is recognised in over 25 countries including Europe, UK, USA, South Africa and the Middle East. As part of the alliance, DMI will run specialist training programs with NIIT faculty. Over 150 professional subject matter experts were involved in developing the curriculum.

As per industry estimates, global digital media spend will exceed $104 billion in 2013 and is growing at a rate of over 10% annually. The rate of growth in Asia is nearly 25% year on year. India is the third biggest user of the internet in the world.

The program will give an overview of Search Engine Optimisation, Pay-Per-Click Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Email Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Digital Display Advertising, Mobile Marketing, Web Analytics, E Commerce, and Planning Digital Marketing Campaigns.

The National level winner of the NIIT MindChampions’ Academy (MCA) was felicitated by World Chess Champion and NIIT MindChampion Viswanathan Anand at the grand finale of Chess Master 2012 in Indore. Also present on the occasion were Hemant Sethi, President, School Learning Solutions, NIIT Ltd. and Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, Global Indian International School (GIIS).

Master Sree Govind Ganesh, Class 5 student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kochi, was adjudged as the National level winner of the NIIT MindChampions’ Academy - Chess Master 2012. During the day, Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand launched NIIT MindChampions’ Academy at Global Indian International School, Indore.

This year MCA has witnessed widespread participation of over 2 Lakh students from 8,000 schools across the country for the Chess Master 2012. The mega Chess tournament was entirely conducted online, inspiring students from metros to the remotest towns across the country, to play the game of Chess online.

The program was unveiled by World Chess Champion & NIIT MindChampion Viswanathan Anand, at both the schools on December 17, 2012. A joint initiative by NIIT & Grand Master Viswanathan Anand, MindChampions’ Academy aims to popularize Chess in schools across India.

The nation-wide test on 9th December enabled graduates to match their skills with employee expectations

NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, successfully conducted the first Graduate Employability Test (GET) nation-wide on December 09, 2012. GET enables graduates to evaluate their job-readiness and get career consultation based on their test scores.

GET has been designed as a 100-minute objective type examination and aims to assess functional abilities and behavioral traits that make up I.T. aptitude. Every student undergoing the test will receive a personalized graduate employability score-card.

GET test takers get special fee waivers on accelerated, placement-backed Diploma programmes offered by NIIT and a complimentary entry to NIIT's exclusive mega job fair in early 2013. Candidates will also get to be a part of different Employability Seminars conducted by Industry professionals. The assessment is expected to be of particular benefit to graduate students as they will get I.T. career consultation to assess their capabilities.
