‘NITAT’ – Country’s largest IT Aptitude Test announced

New Delhi, January 04, 2007: NIIT, Asia’s largest IT trainer has announced the country’s largest IT Aptitude test, NITAT to identify students with the potential and aptitude for a career in the booming IT industry. The 3rd National IT Aptitude Test will be simultaneously conducted by NIIT, in over 130 cities in the country, on Sunday, January 21, 2007. Students can register for NITAT, online on www.niiteducation.com/NITAT or at their nearest NIIT centres.

Considering that the IT industry needs 8,50,000 skilled professionals jobs by 2009 (as per NASSCOM), a huge talent shortage is expected in the years to come. NITAT is aimed at enabling graduates and students pursuing their studies in engineering, arts, commerce and science streams to gauge their aptitude for a career in the IT sector and take up a large number of unfilled jobs.

Announcing the launch of NITAT, nationally, Mr G Raghvan, President of NIIT’s Individual Learning Business, said, “NITAT is the doorway for all those who aspire to be part of the booming IT sector. It is a test to identify the best talent and facilitate the IT industry in satiating its constantly increasing demand for IT professionals. NIIT aims to create NITAT as an integral part of IT sector selection procedure”.

Global technology giants such as Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Oracle and Intel have partnered with NIIT for the National IT Aptitude Test.

NITAT has been designed as an objective type test of reasoning, comprehension, data interpretation skills and behavioral traits. Every student undergoing the test, will receive a score-card with their interpretation, along with her/his nationwide and zonal ranking. The assessment is expected to be of particular benefit to graduating engineers in deciding the careers that they should take up. Over 1 lakh candidates have successfully appeared for the test, in the first two years of NITAT.

A list of ‘Promising IT Professionals of the Future’, including names of those with ‘Very High or High IT Aptitude’ will be published and made available on www.niiteducation.com/NITAT. This identified resource pool can be accessed by prospective employers for their manpower needs. NIIT will also award special recognition certificates to merit list candidates and encourage their pursuit of a career in IT.
