Turn Key Educational Projects

NIIT provides turnkey solutions on Build, Own, Operate and Transfer model (BOOT) to create state of the art computer infrastructure at each school and impart computer literacy and computer-based education to the students of select standards.
- The Turnkey Educational Projects have the following components:
- Infrastructure: This involves setting up Computer lab inside the premises with the required Computer Hardware, software and accessories and providing the necessary furniture and fixtures. We also take care of the maintenance of the Computer Hardware and accessories.
- Curriculum: NIIT helps the Government in Computer Science curriculum design and syllabus mapping. We provide courseware for Computer Education in regional language. We can also provide Multimedia Software for IT Education if so desired by the Government.
- Education Delivery: NIIT provides trained instructors to handle the curriculum, and maintain the center for a specified period of time. We provide Testing & Certification for the students at the end of every academic year. We also train the Government School teachers on Computer Literacy.
- Recurring Expenses: NIIT bears recurring expenses such as Monthly Electricity charges, Computer Faculty salary and consumables such as printer paper, floppies.

Project description: Turnkey implementation at 371 Schools across Tamil Nadu located in 25 districts. Facilities provided by the Government
- Government shall provide a room of 20x20 sq. ft. size in each school
- Three-phase connection is provided at the room allotted for this purpose.
- Separate Classroom is provided to conduct theory classes.
Responsibilities of NIIT
- Setting up of Computer lab facilities with necessary hardware, Software, UPS, Air conditioner and other accessories at all School
- Recruit 2 faculty members for each school and train them to handle the curriculum specified by the Government.
- Providing necessary input materials for the faculty members to handle the classes.
- Imparting IT Education for the students of 6-12th standard as per the syllabus prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Government.
- Maintaining the center for a period of 5 years.
- Training over 50,000 students per year.

Scope of Service

- Course is offered as an optional subject.
- Curriculum being specified by Government. Private institute should recruit qualified instructors (B.E. (Computer Science), M.Sc. (Computer Science), M.C.A.)
- Supply of Hardware, Software, UPS, A/C and other accessories at colleges (Quantity of equipment supplied varies depending on the no. of students to be trained and thus all the colleges are divided into 5 different categories ( A,B,C,D and E)
- Supply of Courseware to all the students.
- Government shall conduct a common test and certify the students.

Total No.of Schools being serviced by NIIT: 663
Description of the Project:Lease by way of delivery of Computer Hardware, Software and Connected accessories, installation maintenance of Hardware, Software and connected accessories on transfer (BOOT) basis and provide computer education and training in 1000 high schools in the state for 5 years.
Responsibilities of the Government:
- To allot a room of sufficient size ( Greater than 20*20 sq.feet) to setup the computer lab
- To provide three phase connection at the computer room.
Responsibilities of NIIT:
- To provide two faculty members at each school. The qualifications should be Graduation with at least six months diploma/ certificate in computer applications and should have sufficient experience.
- To setup computer labs with the materials as listed below.

Assam School Project (Under Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme) |
Description of the Project: Supply of computer hardware, software and connected accessories and provision of computer education services in 770 Government Higher Secondary schools in Assam on BOOT (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer) basis.
Phases of Project:
- Phase-I – 140 Schools (Period of contract 2003-2008)
- Phase-II – 200 Schools (Period of contract 2004-2009)
- Phase-III – 230 Schools (Period of contract 2005-2010)
- Phase-IV - 200 Schools (Period of contract 2006-2011)
Responsibilities of the Government:
- To provide 20ft x 20ft room for setting up the computer lab in the schools.
- To provide 1-phase/3-phase power connection (wherever possible) inside the room allotted for setting up systems.
- To bear fuel expenses for the generator wherever provided by the school.
Responsibilities of NIIT:
- Supply of Computer Hardware, Software and connected accessories and provide computer education services
- To supply generator to all 570 schools
- To provide and maintain in working condition Computer Hardware, Software and necessary infrastructure like UPS, furniture, two ceiling fans & two tube lights on BOOT basis during the contract period.
- To provide two full-time instructors at each school
- To impart professional computer education to students of Classes IX to XII for 2 periods per week for each class as per the syllabus.
- To impart general awareness courses, including Internet and e-Mail, to students of Classes V to VIII for 2 periods per week for each class as per the syllabus.
- To provide Multimedia Educational software for providing Computer Education.
- To provide Spoken English course to students of Classes V to XII.
- To impart Multimedia based Computer Aided Education would be made available covering 4 subjects, viz. English, Science, Mathematics and Social Science for Standards V to XII.
- To develop and supply the courseware for the students for computer education.
- To supply adequate stationery and consumables at each centre.
- To impart training to at least 5 (five) Government teachers per year in each school.

Description of the Project: To impart Computer Education and Computer Aided Education to school students of 36 selected Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools by the State Government in different districts of Meghalaya.
Responsibilities of the Government:
- To provide and maintain HW, SW and necessary infrastructure like UPS during the agreement period.
- To supply licensed Software and any should provide additional software needed due to revision of syllabus as and when required.
- To provide power connection inside the computer room.
- To provide adequate furniture.
- To obtain Telephone & Internet connections.
Responsibilities of NIIT:
- To appoint one full time faculty for each school
- To supply the course material as per the Syllabus (in English Language) to the students of Class V to Class XII for Computer Literacy Program.
- To impart Computer education to the students of Class V to Class XII through blended Training Program to create awareness of students in Computer Applications and Concepts as per the Syllabus.
- To impart Computer Aided Education in subjects like Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
- To issue NIIT certificates to the students on successful completion of the course.
- To train a maximum of 3 teachers in each school, wherever feasible, during the agreement period.
Computer Education Project at Himachal Pradesh Government Schools

Description of the Project:To impart Computer Literacy and Computer Aided Learning to the students of upper primary schools (Students of classes 6, 7 and 8) across 210 Government Schools in the State of Himachal Pradesh.
Responsibilities of the Government:
- To provide 12’x12’ room.
- To provide the Hardware and other accessories.
- To provide required Application Software.
- To provide power connection and electricity charges for running the Centre will be borne by the School Authorities.
- To maintain Hardware and necessary infrastructure during the agreement period.
- To provide the telephone and internet connection.
- Expenses towards telephone and internet connection and monthly usage charges will be borne by the school authorities.
Responsibilities of NIIT:
- To impart computer education in Hindi or English as the medium of instruction as prescribed by the government for school concerned.
- To provide one teacher in each school to provide computer literacy to Classes 6th to 8th as per the syllabus prescribed and as amended from time to time.
- To provide one District Coordinator per district. HP has 12 Districts
- To design, print and supply of courseware to the students.
- To keep adequate stock of consumables like Floppies, Printer Ribbons, stationery and other material required for running the activities.
- To impart functional computer training to five teachers/officials every year and provide courseware to them in English.
- To impart training to school teachers in Computer Aided Learning (CAL) on the multimedia contents to be supplied by Himachal Pradesh Education Society cum Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

Responsibilities of the Government:
- Accommodation to install the computer system will be provided by the School free of cost. The size of the accommodation shall be approximately 20’x20’
- To provide 1-Phase/3-Phase power connection inside the room.
Responsibilities of NIIT:
- To provide Computer Aided Learning as per the hard spots through Multimedia based Educational Software in all the schools without interruption.
- To supply Computer and connected accessories and maintain them for proper uninterrupted operations.
- To provide courseware/books for Computer Education to each student every year.
- To supply the Multimedia based Computer Aided Learning Software covering 4 subjects, viz. English, Science, Mathematics and Social Science for Standards VI to VIII in English or Bengali.

- Accommodation 250 sq.ft. space to install the computer system will be provided by the School free of cost.
- To provide 1-Phase/3-Phase power connection inside the room.
- To provide venue for conducting technical training to the Subject Teachers.
Responsibilities of NIIT:
- To provide one full-time instructor at each school.
- To supply, install and maintain the entire system in working condition during the contract period.
- To print and supply the courseware every year in Marathi and English to each student for Computer Education.
- To provide 256 kbps internet broadband wherever available. Other places to provide internet through dialup line.
- To impart training to at least 5 teachers per year per school.

Responsibilities of the Government:
- To provide 300 sq.ft. of constructed room.
- The electricity charges for running the computer lab will be borne by the School/Government.
- All system software except Windows XP Starter Pack and application software will be provided by BSEDC.
- Directorate to provide space and other infrastructure for setting up Help Desk/Call Centre facility at Patna.
- To finalize course curriculum.
Responsibilities of NIIT:
- To supply, install and maintain computer hardware, software and connected accessories during the contract period.
- To undertake false roofing and vinyl flooring in the Computer Lab.
- To undertake electrical wiring with proper earthing in 400 schools and one directorate.

- To provide PSTN or broadband in 400 schools and in one Directorate.
- The charges for internet connection will be borne by the Contractor.
- To provide MIS software to manage operations in 400 schools and at central Directorate.
- To impart training on the hardware operations, system software and application software to at least 5 teachers per year per school.
- To provide Computer Awareness Program for Classes 8 to 12 in the first year and to provide Professional Program for Classes 9 to 12 from second year.
