NIIT Limited Consolidated Q1 (April- June, 2011) Net Revenue at 321.2 Cr, up 16% YoY; PAT at 13.1 Cr

In the first quarter of FY 2011-12, NIIT Limited recorded Net Revenue of 321.2 Cr representing a 16% growth YoY. System Wide Revenue grew by 17% YoY to 469.2 Cr.

The Company’s PAT for the quarter stood at 13.1 Cr. The EBITDA was at 30.7 Cr reflecting a margin of 10%.

During the quarter NIIT launched India’s first Cloud Campus with its flagship GNIIT program based on cloud. Students joining this program will have an unparalleled experience of learning off the cloud. They will have digital courseware and necessary applications on their netbook devices, thus enjoying 24x7 availability of hands-on lab and other learning resources. This enables their anytime-anywhere learning leading to comprehensive mastery of their subjects. Students enjoy higher mobility as they can easily access educational services using their Netbook and data card that connects them to NIIT’s Cloud CampusTM network. These services will be managed by NIIT centrally using the power of Cloud Computing.

Individual Learning Solution (IT) recorded net revenue of 117.8 Cr, up 16% YoY. This was supported by 11% increase in global enrolments, with career enrolments growing at 16%. Placements grew at 28% YoY on the back of continued acceptance of NIIT graduates.

During the quarter, NIIT launched its first NIIT One World Centre in Coimbatore. This is the first-of-its-kind training centre by NIIT that will serve as a one-stop destination for providing quality training to students and professionals across multiple domains, such as Information Technology, Banking and Finance, Management and Business Process Outsourcing.

NIIT made operational its Synchronous Learning Technology (SLT) based Institutional Alliance Business - Careers@Campus, with college sign-ups covering nearly 13,000 students. These programs, mapped to the college calendar, will be delivered through VSAT into SLT classrooms

Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance (IFBI) launched preparatory programs for probationary officers and clerical recruitment exams for public sector banks. IFBI also signed an MOU with National Stock exchange (NSE) for launching NSE Certified Capital Markets Professional program.

Corporate Learning Solutions (CLS) recorded net revenue of 163 Cr, up 18% YoY. During the quarter the Company accelerated the execution of 6 Managed Training Services (MTS) deals worth USD 110 Mn in potential revenue over the next 5 years. The Element K learning products library posted substantial gains in market share and recorded a volume growth of 22% YoY.

School Learning Solutions (SLS) recorded net revenue of 40.3 Cr and added 826 schools during the quarter.

During the quarter, SLS increased its Pan-India sales reach to over 65 cities, to cater to the increasing demands for quality learning products. NIIT further consolidated its position through the NIIT NGuru platform, which offers an integrated learning solution for schools.

Other Highlights of Q1:

  • NIIT announced its 12th IT Scholarship in Nigeria
  • The annual Chess Master competition held under the aegis of NIIT MindChampions’ Academy (MCA) and guidance of World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand culminated successfully in Patna this Quarter. Established in 2002, MCA has fostered over 11,000 Chess clubs with more than 1 million students as its members, in schools across India.
  • NIIT was adjudged amongst ‘Top 25 India’s Best Companies to Work for’ and the First among the Training & Education Industry by The Great Places to Work Institute
  • NIIT received three accolades at the World Education Awards, 2011. NIIT’s Skill development project in the Republic of South Africa was felicitated with, ‘Best Vocational and Skills Initiative of the year’ award; NIIT Imperia was recognized as ‘Best Training to Working Professionals’ and NIIT’s Mobile Science Lab was acknowledged as the ‘Best Innovation in Science Education’.
  • NIIT Vietnam received the ICT Gold Medal Award 2011 for the 6th Consecutive Year from the Ho Chi Minh Computer Association.

NIIT Limited launched the new-age GNIIT programme that can be pursued anywhere anytime, by leveraging the unique cloud learning methodology.

The pioneering NIIT Cloud Campus empowers the student to learn on his own terms, at his own pace, wherever and whenever he wants it. Students enjoy higher mobility as they can easily access educational services using a Netbook or a Mobile device that connects them to NIIT’s Cloud CampusTM network. These services will be managed by NIIT centrally using the power of Cloud Computing.

One of the most important initiatives of NIIT in recent times, the new GNIIT syllabus is based on a revolutionary educational paradigm called collaborative learning which takes students’ beyond the traditional classroom based student-teacher relationship. Students enrolling for the programme will be provided with technically robust netbook, a well designed digital courseware and a fully paid data card. Furthermore, the technology backed learning environment of NIIT’s Cloud Learning Methodology supports group learning through interactive features like 24x7 lab and e-library access, instant tech updates, interaction with faculty and peers and access to online video streams. NIIT Limited launched its first NIIT One World Centre in Coimbatore on June 22, 2011. NIIT One World is the first-of-its-kind training institute that will serve as a one-stop destination for providing quality training to students and professionals across multiple domains, such as Information Technology including ERP systems, Banking and Finance, Management and Business Process Outsourcing. The centre was launched in the presence of World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand, by G. Raghavan, Chief Executive- Career Building Solutions, NIIT Ltd. The event was also graced by Dr. E. Balagurusamy, former Vice Chancellor of Anna University, Chennai and former Member of Union Public Service Commission.

The NIIT One World Centre at Coimbatore is the first of many centres that NIIT will establish in the coming years.

NIIT One World aims to synchronize NIIT’s cross domain training expertise with a proven training experience of three decades. Career aspirants wanting to augment their formal education with career-oriented training, will no longer need to go to various centres to seek professional advice to select programs mapped to their aptitude. NIIT IFBI Launches Preparatory courses for PSU banks’ Probationary Officers and Clerical Recruitment Exams

IFBI, a joint initiative of NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer and ICICI Bank, India's largest private sector bank, launched first-of-its-kind Preparatory courses for PSU Banks Probationary Officers ( PO) and Clerical recruitment exams.

An IFBI initiative, The Bank Exam Coaching Academy, will provide a scientific and systematic approach to preparation for recruitment tests conducted by PSU banks for Probationary Officers and clerical positions. The exam preparation courses are designed keeping in mind the assessment and testing practices adopted in these recruitment exams.

Recruitments in public sector banks have been on the rise over the past few years, considering the number of retirements & opening of new branches. This trend is expected to continue for the next 5 to 7 years. Various industry estimates put this figure anywhere between 4 to 7.5 lakhs in the next five to seven years. Recognizing this huge employment opportunity available in the Public sector banks, IFBI has launched this unique initiative to help youth prepare better for PO and clerical recruitment exams, thus enabling them to realize their aspiration of joining leading Banks

These preparatory courses aim at training students to meet the challenges of testing and thus succeed in Public Sector Bank recruitment exams. These courses, ranging between 60 to 100 hours, groom the students in areas such as reasoning ability, numerical ability/ quantitative aptitude, English language and general awareness, with specific reference to banking industry and computer awareness. Skilling students with specific tips and tricks, methods and tools to perform better in exams is a key feature of these courses. Besides preparing the aspirants in core subjects, the course will also provide intense training in group discussion, personal interview and descriptive tests.

NIIT UNIQUA launches specialized Technical and Soft Skill Training Program for Uttar Pradesh Police Personnel

We are delighted to offer this specialized technical and soft skill training to the Uttar Pradesh Police personnel. This initiative has been under taken to help the police force offer better and prompt assistance to people in times of emergency.

 

 

 

 


- A novel initiative to assist Uttar Pradesh Police on dial “SEVA 100” for offering efficient services to citizens

NIIT Uniqua launched a specialized technical and soft skill training program for Uttar Pradesh Police to help police personnel offer efficient services to citizens.

The objective of the training program is to offer technical and soft skill training to police personnel which will help them efficiently handle calls made to the emergency no. 100. The training capsule includes training on call opening, call handling, taking down required information, providing a complaint number to the caller, giving emergency assistance through basic advice on phone, alert the local PCR van at the time of emergency etc. Under this program, NIIT Uniqua will train 25 Agra Police personnel over the 30 days. These people will also be trained on soft skills and etiquette to communicate politely and gently with the citizens and change the public perception about the police force.

Mr. Asim Arun, Deputy Inspector General, remarked, “We are pleased to join hands with NIIT Uniqua, a leader in IT space with expertise in soft skill training to help upgrade our police force in softer skills and public dealing. I am confident that through this novel initiative of Seva 100, we will be able to reach timely and effective help to the citizens.”

Seva 100 is an initiative by the Uttar Pradesh police to extend timely help to public, wherein the aggrieved can make a call to emergency helpline number 100. The caller will be assisted by police in registering the complaint and alerting the local PCR van.
