NIIT Limited reported a Profit after Tax of Rs 13 Cr for the first quarter, representing a 32% growth YoY.

The Company’s Net Revenue stood at Rs. 278 Cr, up 7% YoY with System Wide Revenue growing by 9% YoY to Rs. 401 Cr. The EBITDA was at Rs. 28.7 Cr reflecting a margin of 10%.

The results were taken on record at the meeting of the Board of Directors of NIIT Limited here today.

During the quarter NIIT launched training programs on Microsoft’s Azure platform, with a view to create talent for the fast growing cloud computing space. Under the ‘Global Partnership’ program with IGNOU, a series of ‘finishing school programs’ for enhancing employability were launched.

Corporate Learning Solutions (CLS) recorded a net revenue of Rs. 137.7 Cr. Order intake for CLS was at USD 34 Mn for the quarter as a result of significant customer wins in Learning Products and Managed Training Services. The closing order book stood at USD 93 Mn, up 15 % YoY.

Individual Learning Solution (IT) recorded a net revenue of Rs 90.8 Cr, supported by 8 % increase in global enrolments. Placements grew at 14% YoY on the back of improving hiring. A revenue growth of 32% was recorded in China individual business.

New Businesses led by Finance & Management Training (FMT) recorded a 122% YoY growth in revenue. Enrolments in FMT business witnessed a growth of 125% YoY during this quarter. Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance (IFBI) added 4 more banking partnerships, while NIIT Imperia launched an Executive MBA Program for Working Professionals in partnership with IGNOU.

School Learning Solutions (SLS) recorded a net revenue of Rs 38.4 Cr backed by fresh order intake of Rs 158.6 crores, representing an addition of 1,231 schools during the quarter. NIIT launched the ‘Mobile Science Lab’, an innovative learning solution which integrates Science Lab with classrooms.

Showcases Latest Technology Innovation for Classrooms of Tomorrow

NIIT, in association with Fourier Systems, a worldwide leader in science education, demonstrated Mobile Science Lab for schools- an innovative learning solution which integrates Science Lab with classrooms. World Chess Champion and NIIT MindChampion Viswanathan Anand unveiled this revolutionary solution in seminars conducted in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai, highlighting the importance of 24*7 experiential learning. Also present were Sanjiv R Pande, President, School Learning Solutions & HiWEL, NIIT Ltd, Ms. Tamar Antokol, Director – Sales, Fourier Systems and Mr.Yariv Baryam, VP Sales & Marketing Fourier System.

NIIT and Fourier Systems entered into an alliance to make Mobile Science Lab available to students in India. As part of this partnership, NIIT will make available technology-enabled learning solution to explore science through computer-aided experimentation, while Fourier Systems will offer NOVA 5000 science data logger with a vast range of science probes for capturing relevant data and several other innovative solutions for learning of science. The product will be made available through NIIT to schools across India. NIIT has worked to customize the solution for use in Indian schools. The solution now covers a wide range of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Environmental Sciences. More than 210 experiments from NCERT defined curriculum can be performed.

Mobile Science Lab is a portable laboratory thatrevolutionizes the way Science is taught and learnt. NIIT eGuru Mobile Science Lab makes teaching and learning of Science interactive, interesting and enjoyable. The product fosters students’ higher order thinking skills like question posing, inquiry, scientific thinking and enhances students’ confidence.

Anand does a hat trick by winning three World Chess Championship titles back to back

NIIT welcomed World Chess Champion and NIIT MindChampion Viswanathan Anand upon his arrival in Chennai after his scintillating win over his Bulgarian challenger Veselin Topalov. Defending champion Anand emerged as the undisputed king of chess yet again by winning with black against Veselin Topalov in the last 12th Game of the World Chess Championship that concluded at Sofia on May 11, 2010.

Besides being the first Asian to win the World Championship in 2000, Anand now has the distinction of creating a hat trick with three World Championship titles in 2007, 2008 and 2010. He is the only person in Chess history to have won a World championship title in all formats: match, knock-out and tournament.

Starting 1999, NIIT’s association with World Chess Champion, Viswanathan Anand, including contractual extensions- is the longest running Brand Ambassador contract in the history of Indian sport.
