Jonty Rhodes

Jonty Rhodes Cricket Legend, South Africa


Jonty Rhodes is a former South African Test and One Day International cricketer. He is commonly regarded as one of the greatest fielders and all-rounders of all time. He played for the South African cricket team from 1992 to 2003.

During his career, he also played club cricket for the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg and first-class cricket for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, KwaZulu-Natal, and Natal. Rhodes retired from Test cricket in 2000, and from one day cricket in 2003 after an injury during the 2003 Cricket World Cup.

Apart from being one of the greatest cricketers, Jonty Rhodes was a great hockey player too. Post retirement, Rhodes worked as an account executive at Standard Bank and was also involved with the bank's cricket sponsorship in South Africa. He is presently the fielding coach of the South African cricket team and Indian Premier League’s Mumbai Indians team. He is also passionate about golf.

In 2013, South African Tourism appointed Jonty Rhodes as their brand ambassador for India. In admiration of India’s rich culture and history, Rhodes has named his daughter ‘India’.
