Focus On Strategic Elements Of The Business
At NIIT, we believe that a company should not outsource the strategic elements of training. We have validated this belief with many internal training organizations and industry providers.
What constitutes “strategic elements?” Strategic elements are the business linkage process of understanding the needs of the business and having dialogues with the business to determine viable learning solutions that could make a valuable difference for the business.
Outsourcing the non-strategic elements of your business can allow the L&D function to focus on these strategic elements. Typically, outsourcers are more transaction oriented in their approach to outsourcing and do not have the capability to carry out the business linkage process. They therefore cannot be held accountable nor can they make a huge impact on the value side of the equation.
Internal L&D organizations must therefore focus on the strategic elements of the business by improving their internal processes for:
Linking to the business
Engaging with customers
Understanding customer expectations
Ensuring that the work they do is relevant in a business context
