Digital versatilist

Promoting the effectiveness of IT Ops
teams by making them Digitally Versatile

The Problem

As one of America’s largest multinational banks, renowned for its investment banking prowess and managing assets nearing $4 trillion, the client faced the challenge of adapting to rapid technological changes and evolving business models.

The Operations task force has been thinking about how agility, automation, and technological prowess could help innovate global operations – How to redesign business models to create connected and compelling customer experiences? How can processes be enabled in a way that communicates real-time insights to partners and across ecosystems? The crux is people in operations who can think new and act fresh.

Operations need versatilists who understand the power of technology to innovate, bring about speed and scale in every possible action; understand the seismic shifts in the economy, and be able to build the required capabilities and attitudes and drive digital transformation by integrating automation, analytics, security, software and cutting-edge technologies. This is only made possible through transformative leadership training.

The Solution

The Digital-age Versatilist Program was designed to equip professionals with versatile skills essential for thriving in today’s dynamic, technology-driven landscape.

It develops capabilities across three core areas: Deliver, Deepen, and Broaden, enabling participants to reimagine operations, deliver insightful analytics, and expand their technological expertise.

  • Deliver – Reimagine Ops: Participants learn to implement new operational paradigms and champion change within their organizations. This module emphasizes leveraging automation and analytics to create innovative customer experiences, focusing on building diverse teams, achieving operational excellence, and addressing modern business complexities (VUCA 2.0).
  • Deepen – Delivering Insights: This module enhances participants’ skills in using advanced analytical tools to develop operational insights by applying analytics to drive strategic decision-making and improve customer experiences. Participants learn to navigate and leverage the data layer effectively, grounding their contributions in robust analytical thinking and practical execution.
  • Broaden – Technology and Data Layers: This module focuses on expanding participants’ expertise in technology and data layers, fostering a comprehensive understanding of modern technological frameworks. It aims to enhance their ability to integrate and apply technological solutions that support broader business goals, harnessing the power of technology and data to drive innovation, optimize operations, and deliver significant value.

The Impact

At the end of the learning intervention, the learners were asked to brainstorm about their designations, interview other functional roles, conduct independent focused research on relevant topics, define key digital technologies that could transform an organization’s operations with proper rationale, and prioritize solutions based on business impact. In this endeavor, the learners then drafted their vision of “reimagining” statements within their AoR (Area of Responsibility). Some of these are:
