1.0 Glossary

 

The following words and expressions shall, unless the context requires otherwise,have the following meanings as set out below:

 

Admission Selection Letter Is the document provided to a Candidate who fulfils the eligibility ofadmission for the Program based on the Candidate s application details andperformance in the admission process. It is also known as Admission OfferLetter .

 

Alumni Connect means inviting the NIIT Alumni (ex-Learners) to share their Experience andLearnings to the current Learners.

 

Application refers to the online form that every Candidate must fill up and submit whileseeking admission for a Program.

 

Application ID is an alphanumeric 15-character unique ID, assigned to all Candidates afterapplying successfully for the Program.

 

Aptitude Test is a test administered to assess the Candidates about their aptitude todo the Program. It includes analytical reasoning and quantitative tests.

 

Assignment means various forms of assessments like practice, challenge, quiz, project,hackathon that are conducted to evaluate the learning outcomes for each Learnerin the program.

 

Async Session indicates Activities that the Learner is expected to do by self. Minimumadditional time of 4 hours per sprint must be devoted by the Learner tocomplete and submit the activities like quiz, learning consolidation practiceor challenge assignments. The utilization of Async Session would be as per theconvenience of the Learner and must be completed before the next sprint.

 

Attendance means that the Learner is joining and participating the live virtual contactsession (synchronous session) for the defined duration of the session.

 

Award/Title is the certificate conferred to a Learner in the form of a digitallyverifiable document, upon successful completion of the Program and meeting allthe required prerequisites for conferring the same.

 

Batch Training isimparted in groups of Learners, termed as Batch to facilitate the execution ofthe Program. A Batch is identified with a unique Batch Code, days of the week, timeof execution, scheduled start date and projected end date.   

 

Booking is confirming theacceptance of the Admission Selection Letter, and provisionally reserving aseat for the Program through payment of the applicable Booking amount. The seatis confirmed only on completion of the Registration process.

 

Booking Amount is the initial payment done by the eligible Candidate to confirm theacceptance of the Admission Selection Letter and block the seat in the Program.

 

Break is a temporary discontinuationof the program due to an unavoidable requirement of the Learner, post which theLearner can restore to another batch. This is not an automatic process and willimpact the program duration and admission.

 

 

 

Candidate shall mean an individual seeking admission who is meeting theEligibility Criteria of the Program. Candidate is also referred as Applicant .

 

Career Guidance ( Placement Preparation ) shall mean providing support to the Learnersin creating their online portfolio, LinkedIn profiling and Soft Skill workshop.

 

Category-1Learner (C1) means the Learners having >=60%marks in Class X, XII and Graduation, in the requisite streams as needed forthe program. They should have scored the requisite score in Aptitude Test -analytical reasoning and quantitative (60) and English Proficiency Test – CEFRrating of B2 or above (Versant >= 58 or Mettl >= 50). They would alsoneed to go through personal interaction session with the Placement Coordinator.

 

Category-2Learner (C2) means the Learners having>=50% marks in Class X, XII and Graduation, in the requisite streams as neededfor the program. They should have scored the requisite score in Aptitude Test(50) and English Proficiency Test – CEFR rating mid-A2 or above (Versant >=40 or Mettl >= 40).

 

Category-3Learner (C3) means the Learners who havegraduated from the requisite streams as needed for the program. They shouldhave scored the minimum score in English Proficiency Test – CEFR rating mid-A2or above (Versant >= 40 or Mettl >= 40). The graduate Learners not falling under Category-1 and Category-2 willbe treated as Category-3.

 

Category-4Learner (C4) means the Learner who is not agraduate and perusing undergraduate final year from the requisite streams asneeded for the program. They should have scored the minimum score in EnglishProficiency Test –CEFR rating mid-A2 or above (Versant >= 40 or Mettl>=40)

 

CEFR means The Common European Framework ofReference for Languages. It is an international standard for describinglanguage ability. It describes language ability on a six-point scale, from A1for beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language.  

 

Certificate is the digitally verifiable document issuedto the Learner upon successful completion of the Program and meeting therequired prerequisites as applicable for completion of the said Program.

 

Challenge is the unguided assignment that the Learnersolves to reflect the understanding of the concept learnt in the sprint.

 

ClientBriefings are updates about the hiring organization andjob description.

 

Credential shall include all the documents certifyingthe age, address, degree certificate, etc. obtained bythe Candidate. The Candidate shall be required to produce the originaldocuments of the Credentials if required by NIIT during the Program or by the ProspectiveEmployer during recruitment.

 

CTC or Cost to Companyis defined as the total earnings including gross income, variable pay and anyother additional one time or recurring earnings as part of offer letter orotherwise like joining bonus, retention bonus or ESOPs provided by theProspective Employer.

 

Debrief is the process ofexplaining one s original work done for the assignment or project which isbeing reviewed by the Mentor either in a 1-1 connect or in a group mode.

 

Defaulter is a Learner who is paying the Program Fee by deferred mode throughinstalment, and his/her payment is due. A defaulter Learner will have to payapplicable late payment charges + GST along with the due instalment, to restorein the Program.

 

Deferred payment plan is an instalment-based payment plan, applicable for select programs.

 

Dropout isa Learner who has stopped attending the sessions of a program for a definedperiod, and therefore treated as a discontinued Learner by NIIT. A dropoutstudent is not eligible for any further services from NIIT and cannot seek anyrefund.
