NIIT to provide computer aided education across 1870 schools in Gujarat

Mumbai, May 11, 2009: Global Talent Development Corporation, NIIT has entered into a contract with the Department of Education, Government of Gujarat to introduce Computer Aided Learning in 1870 high and higher secondary government schools for classes 9-12 in Gujarat.

The five-year contract valued at Rs. 843.81 Mn, would impact around 9,00,000 school students across Gujarat, thus consolidating yet another state into NIIT’s portfolio after its recent foray into Rajasthan with 1672 schools. Based on its impeccable track record of providing quality ICT education solutions in schools NIIT bagged the majority share of the contract awarded by the Government of Gujarat.

NIIT had recently bagged the single largest turnkey IT education contract in the school segment in India of 2005 schools from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This was followed by its bagging of orders from the Rajasthan government (1672 schools) and two back to back orders from the Maharashtra and Bihar State governments to provide training in 900 schools for the next five years.

NIIT programs are designed to enable students to acquire skills necessary for the knowledge economy. NIIT’s computer aided education programs will provide effective learning environment for children in subjects like Mathematics, Science, English and Social Studies, with special tools to promote critical thinking and analytical skills leading to student centric learning.
