This program will provide you with the programming foundations using the Python language. Whether you're a beginner or have some prior programming experience, this course will equip you with the essential tools to write efficient and effective Python programs. It will also help you develop skills in Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).

Python has become a preferred programming language in the world of analytics. Learners will learn to create programs using Python and to analyse data. Learner will also learn RDBMS concepts and use SQL to retrieve or manipulate data.

This program will help Learners as they progress through their academic journey. It will lay the foundation on the programming and data analysis skill that will be of immense value in their academic and professional lives.

 

CURRICULUM

The Program focuses on competency development. It is practice based i.e. learners learn by doing things rather than by watching videos or by attending traditional lectures. Curriculum will cover the following.

  • Learn to represent data in the form of tables in a Relational Database. Create, update, and retrieve data stored in a MySQL (RDBMS) database. Use Structured Query Language (SQL) to perform various operations on the database.
  • Learn to apply problem-solving techniques to decompose a problem into computational steps. Then translate the steps into a program using the Python language.
  • Use the NumPy libraries in Python to perform data analysis. Analysing & visualizing data using Python libraries.
  • A Summative assessment of all content and applications covered in the program

The Course, comprising of 30 Hours of Concept Sessions, is scheduled over a period of 15 weeks for the convenience of Learners to manage their learning along with their formal academic courses. The Learner is expected to assign, in a week, only 4-5 hours of learning effort for:

  • attending concept sessions for 2 hours every week,
  • devoting 2-3 hours to quizzes and assignments.

Learners will acquire knowledge and skills on programming using Python and working with RDBMS to analyse data using Python and SQL. On successful completion of each of the assignments, each learner will be able to:
