Pankaj Jathar brings over 25 years of experience in leading global corporations through transformational
change. Prior to joining NIIT, he served as the Country Head, India at Etsy, where he successfully set up
and grew the platform, building a robust two-sided marketplace connecting millions of buyers and
sellers. Before Etsy, Pankaj was the CEO of Prione, a joint venture between Amazon and Catamaran
Ventures, where he steered the organization’s vision and achieved ambitious goals. He also played a
pivotal role in launching and scaling Amazon in India, delivering exceptional results through strategic
vendor management, deep market insights, and effective category management.
Pankaj has spent a total of 13 years in the digital economy and has had a ringside view of how this has
scaled and how the Indian consumer has changed through this journey.
Prior to this he was with Accenture for over five years where he helped BFSI companies across US & UK
figure out how to be more efficient through outsourcing to India.
Recognized for his ability to identify and nurture high-caliber talent, Pankaj creates visionary strategies
and leverages technology and innovation to solve complex business problems. Additionally, Pankaj
advises startups, helping them navigate the early e-commerce journey, and has coached numerous
leaders.
Post his MBA from IIM, Calcutta, Pankaj began his career as a Senior Management Trainee at NIIT. He
worked with R S Pawar the founder & Chairman. During his first stint here, he was closely involved with
the Hole-in-the-Wall Education Project (HiWEP), working with Dr. Sugata Mitra.
His extensive background in consumer-focused businesses and technology-driven industries positions
him well to drive innovation and growth at NIIT.
