INTEL & NIIT PARTNER TO LAUNCH INTEL MULTI-CORE TRAINING
CURRICULUM, GLOBALLY
To Skill Developers in Leveraging the Power of multi-core
Technology
New Delhi, June 26, 2007: Intel and NIIT, a global IT
training major, today announced the launch of multi-core training curriculum
that has been developed jointly and will be deployed by NIIT, globally. As
industry transitions from single-core processors to multi-core, software
developers will need a new set of skills to design and develop software that
harnesses the full potential of these processors.
NIIT, in association with its training partners will offer the Intel
multi-core training curriculum to the software developer community, globally.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rajendra S. Pawar, Chairman, NIIT Ltd, said,
“NIIT will aggressively build Global Talent for Intel’s multi-core
technology.”
Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Scott Apeland, Director, Developer
Relations Division, Intel Corporation said, “The power of multi-core
processors to increase software performance is incredible, but not automatic.
The full potential of multi-core processors is best unleashed when software is
designed to take advantage of the power of multiple cores. This evolution of
processor technologies has brought the software developer and architect
community to a phase where they need to re-look at their existing
skill-sets.”
The multi-core training curriculum offers basic and advanced training—from
an initial overview of multi-core, to a working experience of parallel
programming, including the intricacies of multi-threaded programming and
performance optimization. The curriculum has been designed to empower developers
with key diagnostic skills and specialized Intel® threading tools which will
allow rapid deployment of correct and efficient parallel applications.
According to Mr. Ashish Basu, President, Knowledge Solutions Business,
NIIT, “This unique alliance brings together Intel’s expertise in
multi-core technology and NIIT’s ability to deliver this training to the
software development community, globally.”
The multi-core training curriculum will be delivered using NIIT’s reach in
32 countries, and its subsidiary Element K in US & Canada.
To further enhance the reach of training, NIIT is partnering with Intel®
Software Training Providers such as Training Choice in Australia and Singapore,
TRIA IT–training GmbH in Germany, Samsung SDS in South Korea and QA-IQ in UK.
Other training partners include NETRON and Aribil in Turkey; and Academy IT and
LANIT in Russia.
The launch of this curriculum follows a long-standing relationship that
NIIT has with Intel. Earlier in August 2005, following an MoU with Intel to
train 50,000 developers on Intel technologies, the Intel® VTune™ Performance
Analyzer course was embedded into the GNIIT curriculum resulting in 20,000
developers completing this training by the end of 2007.
This global launch is another important element in Intel’s over-all
initiative to prepare the software industry for multi-core programmers and
NIIT’s mission of Global Talent Development.
In addition to this new curriculum, Intel offers a comprehensive portfolio
of resources to facilitate software developers to take advantage of multi-core
processors including a full suite of development tools for multi-core
processors, an online multi-core developer community via the Intel® Software
Network and a multi-core University Initiative that delivers multi-core
curricula to thousands of students in more than 200 universities worldwide and
the Intel® Software Partner Program to engage software organizations
worldwide.
