India’s leading IT publication group Cybermedia, the publisher’s of
Dataquest, will re-affirm the No. 1 IT Training company status for 2005-06 to
NIIT on October 26.
“NIIT strengthened its leadership as the No.1 IT Training company
with revenues of Rs. 450 crore and recording a market share of 31 per cent in
the Rs. 1453 crore IT training market.” This was disclosed here to the
media by NIIT Chairman Rajendra S. Pawar who was in town to speak to eminent
citizens and academics to mark NIIT’s 25th Anniversary Celebrations.
With revenues of Rs. 450 crore, NIIT is nearly 1.5 times bigger than the
combined revenues of the next 4 players put together as per the Dataquest annual
industry survey.
“The wide acceptance by the industry of NIIT’s special programmes
for engineering students and the multi-track GNIIT programme led to doubling the
number of placement of our students in 2005-06.
“We have aggressive growth plans this year and our focus will be on
leveraging our partnerships with technology majors, among them Intel, Sun and
Microsoft, to prepare a larger number of students for the growing IT and ITES
industries,”
Mr. Pawar added.
The recent acquisition of the Rochester headquartered Element K by NIIT has
enabled the company to emerge as the leading global provider of comprehensive
learning solutions, with more than 3,000 employees.
In China, NIIT continued to further consolidate its leadership through
strategic partnerships. NIIT operates over 100 education centres in 25 provinces
in China. NIIT has been offering education overseas in nearly 30
countries.
NIIT plans to enrich its portfolio of offerings for the individual learners
in mini metros by offering Programs in the IT assisted space. This will help
NIIT to offer young aspirants to prepare for careers in the growing finance,

Indian IT industry at Rs 164,652 crore in 05-06
The
Indian IT industry logged in total IT revenues of Rs 164,652 crore in the year
ended March 31, 2006 recording a growth of 33 per cent. (However, based on
dollar denominated revenues, the growth was placed at 31 per cent) The industry
showed a remarkable growth across all segments. The IT Services and BPO industry
exports grew 33 per cent to record revenues of Rs 87,951 crore. The domestic IT
industry went up 28 per cent to report revenues of Rs 56141 crore.
These findings have been reported in a recent survey of the Indian
IT industry by the leading industry journal Dataquest in its 4-part annual
survey, according to head of NIIT’s Nagpur Operations Ms Rina
Sinha.
