New Delhi, June 13, 2008: Having successfully provided school learning solutions in over 663 government schools of Andhra Pradesh in the last five years, NIIT the leading Global Talent Development Corporation today announced that it has received the Letter of Intent to provide computer and computer aided education in additional 2,005 schools in Andhra Pradesh, at a value of Rs. 1728 Million.
NIIT will cover over 4.2 million children across 2005 schools in the state of Andhra Pradesh over a period of five years. This follows soon after Maharashtra and Bihar State governments placed orders on NIIT to provide similar training in their 900 schools for the next five years.
NIIT has been at the forefront of providing computer education in the state of Andhra Pradesh since 2002. This project further strengthens NIIT’s leadership in the School Learning Solutions space. It represents the single largest turnkey IT based education project in the schools segment in India.
Sharing details of this engagement, Mr. L. Balasubramanian, President - School Learning Solutions, NIIT said,
“This project has taken NIIT’s total presence to 2663 schools in the State of Andhra Pradesh alone. In addition to the students, NIIT will also train over 50,000 AP Government school teachers in the next 5 years as part of this new engagement. This reflects the confidence and faith vested in us by the government.”
NIIT’s comprehensive learning solutions for schools includes setting up of computer hardware, software, connected accessories for computer systems, computer education, and certified Instructors, for classes 6 to 10 in specified Government high Schools on turnkey basis for a period of five years.
