Over 4, 20,000 students have  benefited from the test that identifies job-ready talent for the growing  I.T. Industry
New Delhi, February 08, 2012: NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, today announced country’s largest IT Aptitude Test— the 8th National I.T. Aptitude Test (NITAT) — to enable students and graduates to ascertain their aptitude for the I.T. industry. ‘NITAT 2012’, will be simultaneously conducted by NIIT, in over 200 cities nationwide, on February 19, 2012.

Students can find out the benefits of appearing in the 8th NITAT and register online by logging on towww.niit.com/NITAT or by visiting the nearest NIIT centre.

NITAT has been designed as an objective type test of reasoning, comprehension, data interpretation skills and behavioural traits. Every student undergoing the test will receive a score-card with their interpretation, along with her/his nationwide and zonal ranking. The assessment is expected to be of particular benefit to graduating students in determining their aptitude for I.T. careers as well as the I.T. domain that they should take up.

As per industry figures announced by NASSCOM, the Indian IT/ITes sector is on a sustained growth trajectory, despite the challenging global market scenario. The sector continues to be one of the largest employers in the country directly employing about 2.8 million professionals, with over 230,000 jobs being added in FY2012. These figures are a reflection of the growing positive sentiments within the IT and ITeS sectors which will create a demand for a large pool of job-ready professionals for the IT industry. NITAT aims to cater to this need by identifying a ready talent pool for immediate absorption by the industry.

Flagging off NITAT 2012 nationally, Mr. Amitabh Lahiri, Chief Business Officer, Career Building Solutions (IT), NIIT Ltd. said, “NITAT has been hugely successful in identifying the right talent for the IT industry. With the Indian IT-ITeS sector estimated to cross USD 100 billion this year, the demand for skilled IT professionals with the right aptitude will increase in near future.”

A list of ‘Promising IT Professionals of the Future’, including names of those with ‘Very High’ or ‘High IT Aptitude’ will be announced by NIIT and made available onwww.niit.com/NITAT. This identified resource pool can be accessed by prospective employers including leading technology companies for their talent needs. NIIT will also award special recognition certificates to the top 30% merit list candidates and encourage their pursuit of a career in IT. Top 1000 candidates will also be awarded a congratulatory letter signed by Viswanathan Anand.

NIIT’s pioneering initiative —NITAT— was introduced in 2004 to enable graduates and students pursuing their studies in engineering, arts, commerce and science streams to gauge their aptitude for a career in the IT sector, identify skills further required, if any, and thus systematically charter their career into the IT industry.  Over 4,20,000 candidates have benefitted from the test since it was initiated.
