India’s largest IT Aptitude Test - NITAT 2012 witnesses record participation
1,17,192 candidates across 200 cities apply for the test to gauge their IT aptitude
New Delhi, March 12, 2012: National I.T. Aptitude Test (NITAT), conducted by NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, witnessed record participation this year with 1,17,192 IT aspirants applying forthe 8th NITAT 2012.
Srishti Talwar from New Delhi emerged as the first rank holder in the 8th NITAT, with Tarun Saini and Megha Sapra, both from Gurgaon, securing the second and third ranks respectively.
A list of ‘Promising IT Professionals of the Future’, including names of those with ‘Very High’ or ‘High IT Aptitude’ have been announced by NIIT and made available onwww.niit.com/NITAT, which can be accessed by prospective employers including leading technology companies for their talent needs.
NIIT will award a range of benefits to NITAT toppers, including special recognition certificates to the top 30% merit list candidates and encourage their pursuit of a career in IT. Top 1000 candidates will also be awarded a congratulatory letter signed by World Chess Champion Viswanathan Anand.
NITAT, country’s largest IT Aptitude Test, is organized annually to enable students and graduates ascertain their aptitude for the I.T. industry.The - list of National & Zonal Top 25 students of NITAT 2012 are now available online on the official websitewww.niit.com/NITAT.

As per industry figures announced by NASSCOM, the Indian IT/ITes sector is on a sustained growth trajectory, despite the challenging global market scenario. The sector continues to be one of the largest employers in the country directly employing about 2.8 million professionals, with over 230,000 jobs being added in FY2012. These figures are a reflection of the growing positive sentiments within the IT and ITeS sectors which will create a demand for a large pool of job-ready professionals for the IT industry. NITAT aims to cater to this need by identifying a ready talent pool for immediate absorption by the industry.

NIIT’s pioneering initiative —NITAT— was introduced in 2004 to enable graduates and students pursuing their studies in engineering, arts, commerce and science streams to gauge their aptitude for a career in the IT sector, identify skills further required, if any, and thus systematically charter their career into the IT industry. Over 4,91,000 candidates have benefitted from the test since it was initiated.
NITAT has been designed as an objective type test of reasoning, comprehension, data interpretation skills and behavioural traits. Every student undergoing the test will receive a score-card with their interpretation, along with her/his nationwide and zonal ranking. The assessment is expected to be of particular benefit to graduating students in determining their aptitude for I.T. careers as well as the I.T. domain that they should take up.
