To encourage meritorious students to go for 8,50,000 jobs in the IT industry
New Delhi, September 4, 2007: NIIT, Asia’s No. 1 trainer and leading Global Talent Development Corporation has announced the 17th Annual Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships (BJS) to reward meritorious college students desirous of building successful careers in diverse industries that require Information Technology skills.
Based on the students’ performance in a competitive written test, personal interview and Standard XIIth score, NIIT will award fee waivers of up to one-third of the fee of its popular IT career programs, such as GNIIT, to successful students. The scholarship examination will be conducted simultaneously across hundreds of NIIT education centres, in the country on Sunday, September 16, 2007.
Students who have completed their Class XII or equivalent and/or those currently pursuing graduation are eligible for NIIT Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships, for the industry endorsed multiple track GNIIT series. Engineering and IT students can also avail scholarships on ‘New Technology Skill Enhancement Programs’ and the ANIIT Program for Engineers under the ‘NIIT Edgeineers’ series.
To prepare students for the vast career opportunity offered by the Infrastructure Management space, NIIT has announced special benefits for career programs from its NetworkLABS series, this year. Undergraduates and Graduates interested in going for scholarships for the NetworkLABS programs will be assessed on their Class XII score while the polytechnic grades of X+3 Polytechnic Diploma Holders, will be considered. Polytechnic students currently pursuing diploma programs are also eligible for the scholarship and will be assessed on their Xth standard score.
Announcing the launch of Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships 2007, Mr. G. Raghavan, President, NIIT’s Individual Learning Business said, “Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarships is NIIT’s effort to recognise and foster meritorious students and help meet the industry demands for trained IT manpower”.
As per the NASSCOM report, there is an estimated demand for 850,000 IT services and 1.4 million ITES-BPO professionals by 2010.
The application forms for the test are available through NIIT education centers across the country. Students can also log on to www.niiteducation.com/BJS2007 and register for the examination. The last date for receipt of application is September 15, 2007.
The Bhavishya Jyoti Scholarship was launched by NIIT in 1991 to enable financially challenged meritorious students to pursue a career in computers and add to the nation's trained manpower base. In the last 17 years, over 2,50,000 students have benefited from these scholarships and launched their careers in the IT industry.
