NIIT NGuru flags off Math-e-magician Challenge Series at Sadhu Vaswani International School for Girls, New Delhi

New Delhi, August 19, 2011: NIIT Limited, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT Trainer, launched the Math-e-magician Challenge Series, an inter school quiz competition at Sadhu Vaswani School, New Delhi, today. This unique initiative by NIIT, pioneers of introduction of ICT in schools to improve academic performance, aims to make the vital subject of Mathematics fun and exciting. The innovative competition saw widespread participation from leading schools of Delhi.
Organized under the aegis of NIIT NGuru, the Math-e-magician Challenge Series was inaugurated by Mrs. Neeta Rastogi, Principal, Sadhu Vaswani International School for Girls. Also present on the occasion were P Rajendran, Director, NIIT Ltd., participating students and enthusiastic teachers from the participating schools. The contest combined the best elements of competitive problem solving test and quiz to bring out the excitement and creativity of mathematics amongst participants. Almost 100 students from classes VI to X, from 20 leading schools of Delhi/ NCR participated in the contest.

NIIT NGuru Math-e-magician Challenge Series has been designed to expose students to a practical approach to this vital subject and to help them implement their mathematical skills to foster an imaginative, interactive and investigative approach in real life.”
Mrs Neeta Rastogi , Prinicipal, Sadhu Vaswani School said, “We are proud to host the 1st NIIT NGuru Math-e-magician Challenge Series. I am sure that this Series will hone the mathematical skills of students and help them apply practical approach and logical thinking to other subjects as well.”
Leading schools from Delhi participated in this innovative Math contest- Sanskriti School; DAV Public School; Mount Carmel School; Chinmaya Vidyalaya; Amity International School; K R Mangalam School; Venkateshwar International School; Bloom Public School; Birla Vidya Niketan; Pragati Public School; Vishwa Bharti School; Sadhu Vaswani International School for Girls; Laxman Public School; Convent of Jesus & Mary; Green Fields School; Springdales Public School; Bal Bharti Public School. About 100 students participated in this inter-school event.
The participants were divided into two categories: Middle category - comprising 3 members from classes 6th to 8th, one from each class from every school; and Senior category – comprising 2 members from Classes 9th and 10th, one from each class from every school. The participants went through an elimination stage followed by 2 rounds of written tests in mental and scholastic abilities. The combined scores of all the members determined the finalists and the highest scorers moved to the final Challenge Me round.
After an exciting contest, team from Amity International, Saket, emerged as winner while team from Convent of Jesus and Mary was declared the runner’s up in the Middle category. In the Senior catergory team from Bloom Public School emerged as winner while Amity International, Noida’ steam was declared the runner up. The trophy was presented to beaming winners by P Rajendran.
