NIIT Receives Dataquest Top IT Training Company Award 2011

Wins the coveted accolade for 19th consecutive year since inception of this award category
New Delhi, December 2, 2011: NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, has been conferred with the ‘Top IT Training Company Award 2011’ by the country’s leading IT publication- Dataquest. NIIT has been receiving the coveted award successfully for the last 18 years since the magazine introduced this category.
Established in 1981, to help the nascent IT industry overcome its human resource challenges, NIIT has today grown to be amongst world’s leading talent development companies. The company continues to provide innovative range of programs as a solution to manpower needs in the IT industry.

The Indian IT training segment has grown by 3% to reach Rs. 2413 crore in FY 10-11, with the e-Learning segment reaching revenue of Rs 1841 crore in the year. Within the IT training market, Individual training segment grew by 19% to record a turnover of Rs. 1134 crore, while corporate training recorded a turnover of Rs. 1279 crore.

According to Dataquest, NIIT continues to be the leading player in the IT Training category, be it individuals, corporate or schools. NIIT’s revenue of Rs. 1,248 crore in 2010-11 formed around 50% of the total IT education market in India.

In the year 2010-11 NIIT established several new milestones across divisions. NIIT’s Corporate Learning Solutions, built to equip staff in corporates with basic computer handling skills and customized IT training won its 5th award at 2010 Top 20 IT Training Companies list by TrainingIndustry.com. NIIT also bagged 6 key Indian and international clients for multi-year managed training service engagements. The School Learning Solutions added 581 schools in the year 2011, with a phenomenal growth of 76%. The School Learning Solutions division achieved a significant milestone in its mission to take computer proficiency to the grass root levels, by imparting computer-based learning to 10 million students across India.

The NIIT Individual Learning Solutions recorded a growth of 10% and a 31% increase in placements, as compared to last year. NIIT forayed into Afghanistan IT market, while it continued to dominate the Chinese IT training market. 

The GNIIT Cloud Campus, pioneering initiative from NIIT to leverage cloud computing technology to enable anytime, anywhere learning for students, was introduced. NIIT recently joined hands with Ministry of Corporate Social Responsibility to ‘Go Green’.

In another significant development NIIT entered into a public-private partnership with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to enhance skills and employability for youth across India. Through this partnership it is estimated that around 70 lakh youth will be trained by 2022, in multi-skilling mode. The emphasis will be to offer job oriented training in semi-urban and rural areas, to applicants mainly from low and middle income households, aspiring to build successful careers through quality training taken along with formal education. These skilled youth will initially fulfil the requirements of nine emerging verticals predominantly in the service sector.
