Introduces State-of-the-art NIIT NGuru Math lab and NIIT MindChampions’ Academy at Sabarigiri School, Anchal
Anchal, August 22, 2011: NIIT Limited, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, today introduced NIIT NGuru Math Lab and NIIT MindChampions’ Academy, at the Sabarigiri Residential School, Anchal. NIIT NGuru Math Lab was inaugurated by Shri Shibu Baby John, Hon’ble Minister for Labour, Govt of Kerala. Also present on the occasion were Shri P Rajendran, Chief Operating Officer, NIIT Limited; Smt Lida Jacob, IAS, Commission, Right to Education, Govt of Kerala and Dr V K Jayakumar, Chairman, Sabarigiri Group of Schools.
As a part of this association, NIIT will offer its NIIT NGuru Math Lab - a novel concept which enables school students to learn and explore mathematical concepts and verify mathematical facts and theorems using Multiple Teaching and Learning Aids, and NIIT MindChampions’ Academy, which encourages students to take up the game of Chess, enabling development of young minds. Studies have shown that Chess improves concentration and diligence, thus building concentration and helping students perform better academically.
Shri P Rajendran, Chief Operating Officer, NIIT said, “NIIT NGuru Math Lab endeavours to bring back the joy of learning by making the present curriculum of Math interesting and interactive, through use of innovative ICT enabled teaching & learning solutions. Speaking on the occasion, Dr V K Jayakumar, Sr. Principal and Chairman, Sabarigiri Group of Institutions, said, “The present education system will make a 360° shift from learning mathematics by obedience to learning by applied reasoning. With our association with NIIT,we wish to enable our school students to learn, verify and explore mathematical concepts, facts and theorems by leveraging technological tools in making education more impactful and interactive.”
The NIIT MindChampions’ Academy (MCA), a joint initiative by Grand Master Viswanathan Anand and NIIT Limited, promotes Chess in schools to enable development of young minds. Studies have shown that Chess improves concentration and diligence, thus helping students performs better academically. Established in 2002, the Academy has fostered over 11,000 Chess clubs with more than 1 million students as its members, in schools across India.
