NIIT to help Chinese Govt. develop Human Capital for the Knowledge Economy
- Partners with ChongQing Information Industry Bureau for introducing IT training programs in Universities & Colleges
Bangalore, September 5, 2007: NIIT, Asia’s No. 1 trainer and leading Global Talent Development Corporation has entered into an agreement with ChongQing Information Industry Bureau (CQIIB), to build human capital infrastructure for the emerging knowledge economy.
A Memorandum of Understanding, to this effect, was signed between NIIT CEO, Vijay K. Thadani and Mr. Wang Yang, Secretary General of the Communist Party of ChongQing, here, late last evening.
As per the agreement, NIIT will offer its globally acclaimed IT training programs through Universities and Colleges in the world’s largest city, ChongQing. NIIT will offer training programs in the areas of Software Engineering & Application, Network Administration & Management, and Game Design & Development to create a skilled manpower pool for the IT industry.
Speaking on the new initiative, Mr. Vijay K. Thadani, Chief Executive Officer, NIIT and ‘Economic Consultant’ to ChonqQing said, “As the first Indian IT company to venture into China, NIIT has a deep understanding of the Chinese market. NIIT’s partnership with CQIIB is in line with our commitment to develop skilled IT manpower in China.
“Leading Asian economies, India and China can come together and use their strengths innovatively in the area of developing talent for the global knowledge economy“, adds Mr. Thadani.
Through this partnership, NIIT will embed its cutting-edge industry acclaimed IT training programs in the curricula of Universities and Colleges in ChongQing, under the ‘NIIT Inside’ model. NIIT’s IT training programs will be offered in both English and Mandarin. The training major will provide training and certification to students upon successful completion of the programs.
NIIT will also train and certify the faculty at the institutions in ChongQing. As part of the agreement, NIIT and CQIIB will also work together to train the workforce in IT and non-IT companies in ChongQing.
The CQIIB is a Chinese Government department responsible for growth and development of Information Industry in ChongQing.
NIIT entered China in 1998 with the launch of its first IT training centre in Shanghai in cooperation with Pudong Continuing Education Centre (PCEC), education arm of Municipal Government of Shanghai. The company further expanded operations, starting 2001 onwards, through the Wholly Owned Foreign Entity (WOFE) model. Since then, NIIT has built relationships with leading Universities and Colleges, and Software Parks of China where NIIT set up centers within their campuses.
NIIT CEO Vijay Thadani has been appointed as the ‘Economic Consultant’ for ChongQing, to help it become a hub in the emerging knowledge-based economy.
