New Delhi, March 15, 2007: NIIT, Asia’s largest IT
trainer, has been conferred the coveted Indian Franchisor of the Year
Award by the Franchising Association of India (FAI). The award is
instituted by FAI, a non-profit organization that has been at the forefront of
promoting the concept of franchising in India.
NIIT bagged the highest franchising award which received nominations from
companies including Hindustan Unilever Limited for Lakme Beauty Salon and
Archies, amongst others. The process of selecting nominees for the Indian
Franchising Awards 2007 involved a comprehensive nationwide poll.
Mr. C.Y. Pal, President, Franchising Association of India gave away the
award to Ms. Rajini Dasgupta, National Head- Channel Development, NIIT, at New
Delhi, recently.
Through its innovative franchising model, NIIT has created a wave of local
entrepreneurship across the country, converting hundreds of education
partnerships into successful businesses, over the last two decades. The NIIT
success story is unique because it not only helped NIIT grow to be a
multinational itself but also its business model ensured the development of
local entrepreneurs and the proliferation of IT skills.
NIIT has been awarded for its commitment towards taking the latest and the
best technology education services into the deep interiors of the country
through a well structured franchising network. NIIT, which pioneered franchising
in India in as early as the ‘80s, currently has a network of nearly 4000
education centres across the country.
