Ben Verwaayen talks on ‘Opportunities and challenges for
talented Indians in today's global workforce’, as part of ‘NIIT Imperia
Leadership Series’
Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur,
New Delhi, Pune on December 4, 2007:
NIIT, Asia’s No. 1 Trainer and leading Global Talent Development
Corporation organized a special talk by BT Group CEO, Ben Verwaayen, for
students across nine cities, as part of the NIIT Imperia Leadership Series.
Mr. Verwaayen’s nine cities live address on ‘Opportunities and challenges
for talented Indians in today's global workforce’, was enabled by NIIT Imperia’s
innovative ‘Synchronous Learning’ technology, which provided an opportunity to
attendees in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur,
New Delhi and Pune to interact with the global leader.
During his address, Mr. Verwaayen said, “India is a country not
just of a billion people but a billion plus opportunities. Talent is fast
becoming the key differentiator for global business. Companies that harness and
nurture this vast natural resource will gain a critical competitive advantage.
Talent has no passport and no gender. That is clearly recognised at NIIT where
talent and technology are combining to create world class
professionals.”
Accompanying him was NIIT Chairman Rajendra S. Pawar who greeted him at the
NIIT Imperia centre at Nehru Place, New Delhi, post their session together at
the World Economic Forum, earlier in the day.
The unique Synchronous Learning technology–-used by NIIT Imperia for its
Executive Education and Management Development programs—connects remote
classrooms, live with faculty, from country’s leading B-schools such as the
Indian Institutes of Management at Ahmedabad, Calcutta and Indore and Institute
of Management Technology, Ghaziabad. Dedicated two-way audio-video interaction
systems and special software that fully replicates face-to-face teaching lie at
the core of this teaching technology.
Earlier in the year, World Chess Champion and NIIT Brand Ambassador,
Viswanathan Anand utilized the same teaching capabilities of this technology to
play chess and conduct lively tutorials for chess enthusiasts, simultaneously
across six cities.
