NIIT to develop talent for emerging Business Intelligence Technologies

Extends new curriculum to Southern India   

Chennai, August 19, 2008: NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation today introduced a special track on Business Intelligence Technologies as part of its flagship IT career program--GNIIT. The introduction of the new program follows NIIT’s partnership with global leader in business analytics software and services market, SAS Institute Inc. Through the partnership, NIIT will offer specialized curriculum for training on Business Intelligence technologies, to students and professionals across its education centers.

The new GNIIT program on Business Intelligence Technologies’ curriculum is based on SAS software and technologies. Following its widely popular modular structure the GNIIT program aimed at undergraduates and Advanced Technology portfolio for Engineers, Graduates and IT professionals--will introduce career aspirants on technologies like Analytics, Programming, Dashboards, Data Mining and Warehousing, as part of this special Business Systems and Information Management (BSIM) track.

Commenting on the new initiative Mr. G. Raghavan, President Individual Learning Solutions, NIIT said, “Business Intelligence has opened exciting career opportunities for youth around the world. NIIT will address the rising global talent shortage in this area through its alliance with world leader in BI technologies-SAS.”

Speaking on the introduction of BSIM track through NIIT’s centers in Southern India, Mr. B. S. Ganesh, Zonal Head–South, NIIT, said, “Business Intelligence today is a given business imperative for organizations cutting across all industry segments. Recognising this imperative need, we have introduced a separate track within the GNIIT portfolio that specifically aims at providing requisite skills to students aspiring to build a career in this stream.”

Present on the occasion Mrs. Hema Gopalan, Vice President, TCS, Chennai, and Dr. (Mrs.) M. Thavamani, Principal, Ethiraj College, Chennai also shared their views on the critical role that Business Intelligence plays in today’s highly competitive corporate world.

The new curriculum will be rolled out across other parts of the country towards end of August 2008.

According to IDC's India Business Intelligence Market Program 2007, the Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and associated software market stood at US$ 80 million in 2007 and expected to touch US$ 265 Mn by 2012, growing at a CAGR of 27% for the period 2007-2012. The services market around Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and associated software market stood at US$ 25 Mn in 2007 and expected to touch US$  450 Mn by 2012, growing at a CAGR of 78% for the period 2007-2012.
