Microsoft and NIIT partner for developing IT talent pool, globally
New Delhi, February 20, 2008: Microsoft Corporation Pvt. Ltd. and NIIT, a leading Global Talent Development Corporation have agreed to deepen their ongoing alliance to make available a large pool of Microsoft Certified professionals, for global talent requirement. 
As per the agreement, Microsoft Learning will provide rights of its licensed educational content to NIIT, for assisting IT professionals, software developers, businesses, and others, to gain skills on Microsoft technologies and products. With the integration of Microsoft Authorized Curriculum into its flagship career program—GNIIT, NIIT will enable career aspirants and IT professionals to earn Microsoft Certification.
According to Chris Pirie, General Manager, Microsoft Learning, “Rapid technology advancements and dynamic customer needs are exploding the demand for Industry-ready IT professionals. In this environment Microsoft Learning is focussed on helping customers and partners realize their full potential by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills. By partnering with NIIT, we hope to be able to make our structured learning methods and material accessible to a wider audience, to help increase the pool of Microsoft trained and certified resources for the industry, globally.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vijay K Thadani, Chief Executive Officer, NIIT, said, “Our partnership with Microsoft and learning content for their upcoming technologies will enhance employability of students, and help the industry retain its competitive edge, globally.”
With the new training alliance, GNIIT program becomes the first IT career program in the country to offer Microsoft Authorised Learning content. Students will be skilled in the latest Developer and Database platforms comprising of technologies like Visual Studio, .NET and SQL Server which will enhance their employability and make them industry-ready. As part of this innovative program, GNIIT students will also be enabled to appear for relevant Microsoft Certification examinations.
NIIT is also developing training programs for the soon-to-be-launched Microsoft products including Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, and leading technologies like Silverlight, which will be offered to students across key geographies, including India and China.
The new range of programs will be rolled out across 200 NIIT education centers in India. NIIT also plans to introduce the curriculum in 30 other countries, including China, in a phased manner.
NIIT has trained over 9,000 students using Microsoft’s learning content, successfully, in the first phase. The two companies are now targeting at training nearly 100,000 students in the next three years on leading Microsoft technologies.
Both companies also wish to broaden the engagement through a wider range of technology programs for career seekers, covering technologies relevant for Developers, IT Professionals as well as Information Workers. The recent alliance will help both companies penetrate deeper into emerging global markets and develop a pool of skilled trainers and professionals. 
As Microsoft’s Best Learning Solutions Partner in India, NIIT has been offering training programs on Microsoft’s latest technologies, as well as basic computer education at school level. NIIT is also training school children on Microsoft technologies, in Private and Government schools across the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura.
